Conversations with Lori Friesen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Friesen .

Hi Lori, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is big, so I will spare you most of it for now. I am a two-time cancer survivor. I have a husband who has been my best friend for twenty-five years, and we just celebrated our sixteenth wedding anniversary. We have one son, who is our miracle. I have had a long road of health issues, but thank God I am healthier now than I’ve ever been. I love to be creative. Other loves of mine are Jesus, essential oils, photography, hiking, gardening and planting, tacos, ice cream, the beach, board games, spending time with my husband and son. Our little team of three is the number behind my daisies on my logo, as well as how I do everything in threes. I started this business on a “Dang! I need a good headband that stays on my head and looks cute!” From there, I added earrings and diffuser bracelets. Essential oils have been a vital part of our lives, and I wanted to put that into my business somehow which is how the diffuser bracelets came about. I know that headbands, bracelets, and earrings are not essential to life, but I love to help people feel good and spark their smiles. I love making people smile and feel special. I never knew I could do that by helping people choose colors and patterns! I am grateful for an opportunity to share some love and creativity with people. God created each of us on purpose. We are unique and beautiful. I want women to embrace their beauty and be-YOU-tiful. It can seem cheesy, but both are true. It took me a year ago to embrace that and believe it. I love to interact with people. As an introvert, I smile at that statement, but starting this business has brought me joy in connecting with others.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been challenges in life, and my business as well. In any situation whether personal or business, you struggle with figuring out what works and when and why. My why is important to me. I have an amazing support system, cheerleading squad, and fantastic customers that support me and root me on.I know and have peace that if it’s right, it’ll work out; if not, then it’s time to reevaluate.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
When I’m not working on Hazel Daisy work, I’m a homeschool mom to our teenage boy. We work hard and school and play hard as well. He is my helper in this business. He helps me with creative names for my lovelies and gets up every Saturday at 5 am to help me work markets and events. My husband comes when he’s not working to help as well. They are fantastic support. There is a lot of work that goes into a small business and I work hard to make things great. I love that I have found something I am good at, proud of, and people are interested in. It’s a humbling, crazy, neat experience. I no joke tear up after every event and I cheer and do a little jig every time I get an order. It’s surreal most of the time, but I keep walking in the favor, confidence, and joy God has given me.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is that people feel loved and embrace their beauty. I know I handcraft items for outward pretty, but my hope is that someone will connect with an item, look at themselves, and see that they are beautiful and that they matter.
