Conversations with Meredith Struebing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Struebing.

Hi Meredith, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Meredith Struebing Photography studio was founded on the love that I have for photography and the idea that maintaining timeless photographs is priceless. I offer high-end photography because I believe in quality art vs. quantity.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved photography. I was the editor-in-chief for my high school yearbook and newspaper, and I was a photographer in college. But photography became a real passion when my first child was born. I realized how quickly time goes by, so I photographed every moment and every milestone of my little one’s life. I am so happy that I did because they grow so fast and time goes by in the blink of an eye!

12 years ago, I opened my photo studio, but for over 20 years I have been privileged to help others capture the most precious moments in their lives. I love all branches of photography! My passion is in maternity, newborn, family and children photography. What can I say? I love them all. I can’t say I have a favorite type of photography because after every session, I think, “Oh! that session was my favorite”.

The purpose of Meredith Struebing Photography’s studio in St. Charles, MO, is to capture moments that will be cherished forever. We love the real connections between families, couples and children! I want my photography to tell a story and be a treasured, timeless piece of art! I would describe my photography as warm, magical and an editorial style of photography.

I love getting to know my clients so they are comfortable around me. This makes for a more genuine photography session so it captures natural images, especially with children so we get their personality shining through my client’s images. Before each session, I work closely with my clients with clothing selection, location, concept, and style. We find out exactly what they want out of their sessions and my sessions are never rushed. I want them to feel catered to because I truly develop as session that is built around their specific expectations. I believe the session time is yours and I am dedicated to getting that perfect image, that perfect moment. I care deeply for my clients and personalize every minute they are with me.

My maternity and newborn sessions are something magical! I love coming up with new, creative ideas for each client. I want that dreamy look to show what a special time this is for parents and baby! I provide all the dresses for my Momma-to-be clients and my Enchantment sessions (themed sessions, specifically with little girls). My newborn sessions have so many options provided I think I have an addiction to baby props, newborn outfits, hats, bows and wraps. I provide these items for my clients, first, because I’m a perfectionist and have a specific style I uphold in my photography. Second, because I don’t want my clients to have purchased those one-time-use dresses that they will never wear again. Finally, photography session days are usually stressful on mom, so one less thing to do is always helpful to Mom.

I have trained countless hours under some of the best photographers in the world and is blessed to continue to have them as mentors. I have traveled to take specialized workshops at New Jersey, New York, Florida, Tennessee and California. It is very important to me to stay up to date with constantly changing styles, trends and new techniques of photography so I can continually provide high-quality sessions for my clients.

I truly LOVE what I do and I really hope it comes through when you view my photography!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have always been someone who goes after my goals. I am not a “native” to St. Louis so I never had an answer to the famous “Where did you go to high school?” question because I’m from a small town of 500 people, called Iberia, Missouri. It has been fun connecting with people as my business grew but, I can honestly say it took a bit longer for my photography business to “BOOM” because I did not have a history here. When I was a child, I viewed St. Louis, Missouri as a HUGE city! The longer I have lived here, the more I realize it is small town in so many wonderful ways and it is now home to me!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in maternity, newborn, family and children photography and am probably most known for that “magical” look I provide in my editing skills. What my photos look like in the camera is very different from what the final product will look like. I love the editing process and I love playing with many different editing techniques to make my sessions unique and artistic. I have a true passion at capturing photographs and editing photographs with an artistic eye and an attention to detail while providing a personalized experience to create images that my clients love beyond expectations.
