Conversations with Michael Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Jackson.

Hi Michael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey to photography is pretty awesome!!!

I enrolled in college with the intention to achieve a dual degree in graphic design and computer science. Determined to jump straight into the world of Corporate America, with my superhero cape blazing behind me, it was a path I was determined to take, and no one was going to stop me… This was all before I took a first-semester class: Photography 101.

In taking Photography 101, I realized my calling was a totally different path from the original one I was in the process of pushing toward. The day I took my first picture and looked at the image, I felt the emotions captured in the photo. I realized my vision of what I wanted to do was not what I was placed on earth to do. At that moment, the blazing superhero cape turned into a fire blazing within my soul. It became a mission to help others achieve their lifelong passions which sometimes get pushed to the side because of financial limitations or other circumstances. In other words, I knew I would be an affordable freelance photographer for people whom never thought they could have quality prints without paying thousands of dollars for them.

Every photo shoot I do is a gift which excites me to share with the world. Why should one be given a talent and keep it to oneself? Blessings are to share with the world and to help others on their journeys which in turn connect their stories to your stories. In essence, this is not my solo journey, but it is our mutual journey. We are in this together. When you do what you love, you love to do it!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life in general, is never a smooth path. My struggles were different. More so having to realize not everyone feels the same as me when it comes to helping. A lot of times, I had to realize my kindness was taken for a weakness. That was my hardest struggle to overcome.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in family and modeling photography. I’m known for my dedication to a subject. Definitely proud of the way my photography makes people feel that it’s all about them. My love for seeing people happy and not the money is what sets me apart from others.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My walks with my sister. Her teaching me life lessons. She always said You’re not responsible for how others treat you, but how you treat others.
