Conversations with Natalie Buckner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Buckner.

Hi Natalie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, I enjoyed doing my hair. It all started as a little girl hustling my mom out of a dollar if I oiled her scalp. Around the age of 10, my older sister and I would sneak and take packs of braiding hair out of the hair supplies that my mom had stored in the closet. Of course, she would later fuss when she found out we took the hair without asking, but it all felt worth it. By the age of 12 I developed the skill of learning how to grip and attach weave. By the age of 14 I had my first client. By 18 I started my business, formerly known as “Hair by Rudddd”. Before I leaving for college my clientele was decent for a upcoming braider. To help build my clientele, even more, I did hair while away at school, but I was later told I couldn’t do so because I stayed on campus. However, I didn’t let that stop me because it was my passion. Later that year, I came home and started working a full-time job while also braiding hair on the side. In May of 2021, I decided to quit working a full-time job and focus solely on building and expanding my brand. At that moment, the behind-the-scenes work began. In September of 2021, I introduced “XXCLUSIVE BRAIDING” to the new and existing clients. Since then, my brand has opened many doors and presented me with many blessings and opportunities. I am appreciative and grateful for family members and clients who have gotten me to this position.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Things did not start rough and I am very grateful for that. I had a mom who made sure, and my 3 sisters wanted for nothing. She also gifted me with an impeccable work ethic. The biggest challenge I can say that I have faced was finding that this was my passion and believing in myself enough to pursue something that I’ve seen many already doing. I realized that I was blessed with a gift that would provide me with the lifestyle I wanted to live while enhancing the beauty of women and creating lifelong bonds every single day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a licensed braider. I specialize in different braiding styles such as knotless, tribals and stitched feed-ins.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe that my bubbly personality, putting my all into my work, great customer service, level of professionalism, and the business mindset given to me by my mom are all great qualities that have allowed me to grow tremendously over the course of a year.
