Conversations with Russell Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell Harris.

Hi Russell, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started music at a young age as my father always kept music in my ears From Tupac to The Temptations the list goes on and on. As a child, I was in Church Choir and School Choir till I was in college. I started actually doing music in high school recording my own music out of the closet. Till I found myself an actual studio to go to. From there, I was in a group called New Money Man when I say this group was so talented and full of energy we had the biggest following as a local group I’ve ever seen in my life went on my first tour with them and opened up from some of the biggest names in music. 2013 I went to jail where it slowed everything down for me 9months too long. But when I got back to music everything changed I started my own solo Journey and changed my stage name from Young Prodigy To ROCKY. From there, I hit the ground running dropping my first solo Album Reality Check…….

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My Struggles Along The Way Were The Loss Of My Son Xavier, Doing 9 Months In Jail, And Taking A Solo Route.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Work I’m a chef I feel like working in the kitchen has always given me the balance between time off that I’ve always needed to make things happen from shows to tours to studio time. I also run a Full time studio called “The Rec Room” Recording And Mixing music has always been one of my biggest passions. I feel what’s sets me apart from others is my vision with music my versatility when it comes to my music I feel as if I can do whatever kind of music I put my mind to and I’m not afraid to step out of my lane and be myself.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My Grind, Ambition, Hustle, My Vision, If I Want Something I’m Definitely Going To Get It.
