Conversations with Sabrina Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Thomas.

Hi Sabrina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At the age of 20, I began to pursue my modeling career. It wasn’t easy, but I started by building my portfolio, taking pictures, networking with different photographers, and trying to learn my poses. It took time and consistency, but hard work always pays off. Branching off with my career helped me meet new people and find new jobs, such as Cheering for the STL blues, being a part of commercials, and working Indy car races and promotional events.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, nothing will be a perfect process, but God helped me through the tough times. At the beginning of my modeling career, most things are based on experience. So trying to build to an expert level was difficult. Me, being a Freelance model, you have to be your manager! You have to promote yourself 24/7. So starting off getting well-paid jobs wasn’t an easy task.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am proud to say I’m a freelance model, which consists of me doing promotional events (promoting a specific brand), photoshoots for brands/companies, print /commercial (I was a part of a burger king & geothermal commercial), hand modeling, & also I’ve started to do short films/videos! I’m very proud of myself because I started from the bottom. Had to build me up with no assistance. In freelance modeling, you must be persistent, professional, & enthusiastic. I’ve been blessed with those qualities & more.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
With most jobs, there’s a base salary, or you’re expected to make a certain amount. With modeling, that’s not always the case, so you take that risk of not knowing. You have to promote yourself and make it happen so you can make as much as possible. So if I’m not putting all my effort into it, it’ll be shown in my pay.
