Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanna Marie.
Tanna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a camera in my hand and I think my first one was a 35mm pink barbie polaroid, I guess you know my age now lol. I have always been the one to capture even the little things in life. It wasn’t until around adulthood that I thought I could it as a business. As any photographer does when they first start out shooting everything, I finally decided in 2018 to focus my art on the goddesses that we call moms, maternity and the motherhood journey is so incredible and it deserves to be captured just as much and as glamourous as your wedding day. I do not hold back how I treat all my clients and their experience is unlike any other. I love it when they get a day to be pampered and dolled up in stunning gowns, hair, and makeup just as if they were models. I have truly found my calling and will always be looking for the next mamma who deserves to have the best experience ever with the one-of-a-kind heirloom artwork we create as they grow tiny miracles inside them.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing in life is ever easy. If you go through life wanting to achieve your dreams, you better be ready for the hard work, determination, and develop a thick skin for everyone who doesn’t want to see you achieve those dreams. I have not achieved my success overnight, nor does anyone. I have worked long hours, sometimes well into the next day many times ‘cause I have kids and my family comes first. So, a lot of times that meant working during nap, or after bedtime, or working during the week when my husband was off work so we can spend time on the weekends. I am and always will be there for my children and I do everything for them and our family. I have endured many people telling me that I would never make an income from this and it wasn’t possible. I am here to prove them wrong. I have lost friendships due to them not supporting me and my dreams. I have gained new friends who did and still support me. I have the best husband who has been there to help with the kids when I have something I’m working on or that needs to be done. My husband is a part of my business as well, he is the business side of things, and my customer service person. Almost all my sessions that have those long flowy gowns and trains that fly so graciously in my photos, he is the one who tosses them. The number one thing I offer for advice is to just do it. do it scared, do it now. The opinion of people who don’t believe in you will not pay your bills. Do not listen to any negativity thrown at you. Get a mentor and learn every day and get better. You will succeed if you put in the effort. You got this.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As I have said before, I am a photographer that specializes in goddess sessions, the majority being maternity and the motherhood journey. I am known for my experience being one of a kind, extra, and all the glam in every goddess session I do. I am most proud of my maternity sessions as they give me life as a photographer and I absolutely love creating the artwork for my clients to treasure for generations to enjoy.
What sets me apart is that I am the only Tanna Marie that will have you talking to your friends and loved ones for days when you leave my sessions. Nobody is me, and that is my superpower. I am that confident in my work as the goddess photographer.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Ignore the haters and continue on despite them. They will not give you your dreams or pay your bills, you and you alone have to do that.
- Goddess sessions start at $375 and include hair, makeup, and wardrobe options.
- Newborn sessions are only booked through referrals or previous maternity clients and start at $475
