Conversations with Yanna Lowe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yanna Lowe.

Yanna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2020, I wanted to create a natural hair butter for myself because I was experiencing extremely dry hair. I couldn’t find a product in-store that would give my hair the moisture and hold it needed. Being a DIY girl, I knew I could make some myself.

I knew people would ask about my hair products. So I decided to start selling my jars of hair butter. I released my first batch of Curl Butta on 5/6/2020, and all of the jars sold within 2 hours. I was in awe of the support. I kept restocking, and they kept selling out. That was the beginning of Curl Flip, the natural hair care shop.
Once my Curl Butta took off, I decided to expand my brand by adding Butta Bands (Head Bands), Head Wraps, Detangler Brushes, and more! These past two years have been a journey, and I am thankful for all of my Curl Mates’ support. My mission is to provide top-quality products to protect your hair and help you along your healthy hair care journey. Everything you find in my shop is dedicated to moisturizing and protecting your hair.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have been blessed with very supportive Curl Mates since day one. They have made this journey much easier, and I am so thankful. However, I cannot lie and say it has been an easy or smooth road. Running a business takes a lot of time, consistency, and research. I’ve had so many moments when I wanted to give up and or quit because I didn’t believe that I had the power to grow it bigger than where it currently was. I consistently remind myself that if I can believe it, I can achieve it. So I am constantly manifesting and working towards my business goals, even on days when my faith is a little low. (Those days happen often, and it’s normal) The BIGGEST struggle for me is finding my balance between being a single mom, full-time worker, and business owner. All those areas are time-consuming, especially when you do them independently. Once you find your balance, everything runs smoothly, for the most part.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people are surprised when they discover that I hand-make 90% of my shop products. Each wrap, Butta Band, jar of curl butter, etc., is hand-made and packaged by me. I believe in top-quality products, so making them ensures that my customers get the best of the best.
