Today we’d like to introduce you to Andie Frankiewicz and Tia Barndt .
Hi Andie and Tia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourselves.
Always say yes to the coffee date! In 2017, we decided to go beyond passing each other during our waitressing shifts and grab a coffee. This was the start of it all, little did we know. This coffee date led to wanting to open a coffee shop together, now a podcast, and a lifelong friendship. We discovered our passion for life and the way we wanted to impact the world felt very similar and we were inspired to collaborate in some way.
We both love championing others by reminding them their story matters. We believe in being intentional with your passions and want to encourage others to do the same. We began by working towards opening a coffee shop to embody these values and as doors closed we pivoted the platform to a podcast realizing a podcast could better serve our mission. We started the Soul Life Project Podcast in 2019. On the podcast we tell the untold stories of entrepreneurs. You will learn about the mind, body, and soul work each guest has done to get where they are
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Before starting the podcast, we spent about one year working towards opening a coffee shop, speaking with investors, visiting retail spaces and as doors kept closing we had to be open to other ways we could see our mission come to life, to not resist change or look at our time spent as a waste but as a pivot.
When we first started podcasting we knew very little. Sometimes our interviews with guests were awkward and hard to listen to. We continued to educate ourselves, reach out to guests, and push record. We are proud of where we have grown, what we have learned during the process about hosting and ourselves. Mostly we are grateful for all the amazing entrepreneurs we have met.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are very proud of the community we have built and we love that all of our guests are open to having in real life conversations with our listeners! We hope the stories our listeners hear make them feel seen and inspired. We want our listeners to feel empowered to find their passion and purpose. The Soul Life Project is full of resources from all types of sectors and people open to growing with you!
We are pretty minimalistic when it comes to the equipment we use but we do have recommendations for those looking to start a podcast! Blue Yeti microphone, transcribing app we use Descript, Click UP for project management, Buzzsprout for releasing your episode (audio and show notes) to all platforms, instagram to promote episodes, and adobe for design!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We believe having an mentor as an entrepreneur is crucial to your growth. We feel grateful for the mentors who have invested in us and are a big part of who we are today. You don’t know what you don’t know and there are so many leaders out there willing to share their expertise and wisdom with you, like our podcast guests. As you check out our episodes and meet our guests always feel free to reach out if you have questions or just want to connect.
