Today we’d like to introduce you to Ava Godsy
Hi Ava, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My ultimate goal is to provide a chance for creativity to flourish. I have always loved crafts and wanted to start a business for customers to craft from the comfort of their home. I provide pottery painting kits – including pottery, paint and brushes – for the at-home artist! We also do workshops at garden centers, bars and community centers.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a new business, nothing has been “smooth” so far. We are building a following and awareness by going to several markets around St. Louis and St. Charles. Sometimes we make no money, but the opportunity to market is priceless!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Paint your own pottery is a great opportunity for kids and adults to express themselves. All of our pottery is “plant-based”, as in they are plant pots and vases! I believe plants with a beautiful home grow better, and artists get to display functional art all around their homes and gardens!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have to shout out Krueger Pottery and Bedlam Art Mill for guiding me through the glazing, firing and slip casting process.
Pricing:
- Pottery is $20-$30
- Acrylic paint is no extra charge
