Daily Inspiration: Meet Casherel Anaïs Thirdkill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casherel Anaïs Thirdkill.

Hi Casherel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To start, I love St. Louis. My name is Casherel but people usually call me Cash. Pertaining to my business, Knits and Tings started as a graphic tee shirt line and slowly merged into hand knitwear. Throughout the years, upcycling vintage wear has also been a practice. I like to connect with people in St. Louis because my experiences are usually always great.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest obstacles that I have faced is depression and anxiety. Losing family members to crime and natural causes has not made my mental health journey easier, but taking naps throughout my days and therapy has helped some. Hand knitwear is already a slow process, so I am ok with taking my time and waiting to engage with the right customers.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I, Casherel Anaïs Thirdkill, am the lead designer at Knits and Tings, where I hand-knit and crochet apparel and accessories. I am known for my signature bow bralettes and am most proud of my creative process. For example, I like researching color combinations and asking peers about what color combos interest them during my design process to better target my audience. Taking my time and being persistent in hand-knit apparel sets me apart from fiber artists and creatives in the area. I am one of the only designers in the St. Louis Area to pursue hand-knitwear and crochet apparel as a career. One-of-a-kind apparel sets are really what makes Knits and Tings so special. Customers can be found at festivals, or a local Sofar set wearing a one-of-one look.
