Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher J Foxworth.
Hi Christopher, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a kid, I always wanted to be seen on the big screen from watching other kids on different networks like Disney Channel. However, growing up in East Saint Louis and thinking of being a star was just a dream. The city is full of talent but Hollywood was on the other side of the country. As I got older, I was encouraged by family members and friends who where in the industry to keep pursuing my goals and move forward regardless of the outcome.
In November 2019, I was signed with my first agency in Saint Louis, Mo ready to take on the industry. I came in wanting to be an actor and found excitement with finally becoming a model as well. However even though I took a leap of faith, this industry is not as easy as it seems. There where a lot of closed doors and disappointments with trying to get jobs while starting out. It became frustrating at one point that almost caused me to give up my dream, but I had to take two steps back and celebrate the accomplishments and efforts that I had already made before I took my next step forward.
I started taking acting classes early summer 2021 and joined a showcase around the same time and was signed by two more agencies afterwards. As I progressed in this art, work started flowing in consistently. So far I have done two commercials, three tv series, three runways and two short films. Going on this amazing journey and learning from these past couple of years, I realized that so many closed doors will eventually unlock if you stay consistent and keep pushing forward through it all. Sometimes you have to remember what was your why in all of this and to stay motivated no matter what.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been easy I’m pretty sure everyone has their trials when going to a higher place in their lives. The struggles I faced where rejection from being seen by certain casting agencies and directors. My confidence of accomplishing my dream was like a roller coaster going up and down it was hard. It took me a while to understand that nothing was personal but that agencies and directors required a lot more than others or that they could possibly already have someone with the same qualities as you.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an Actor/Model in the industry working towards making a household name for myself.
I am an Assistant Director for Team Focused Productions ran by the Director Christopher Daniels. I work with a lot of talent within the organization making sure they are properly prepared for future casting calls, set up filming dates and times for them as well, I also run the social media pages, write grants and network with other entrepreneurs and sponsors to help build strong relationships for future partnerships.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I learned that family and friendships are more important now than ever. Covid 19 was definitely an eye opener for most because life is a lot shorter than we think. You could be talking to a person you care for one day and the next they are just a memory. My condolence to those who have lost a loved one and hope they Rest In Peace
