Daily Inspiration: Meet Jordan Cole Griffin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Cole Griffin.

Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Drawing has been a passion of mine since I could pick up a crayon. I knew that I wanted to make it my lifelong pursuit since the 5th grade. Ever since then, I’ve worked every day to make it better. Nothing holds my attention or heart the way art does and I can’t picture myself doing anything else.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m not short on inspiration or ideas for my art. Rather, I’m short on time. I want to be able to support myself off my art but I’m not there yet. Keeping up with life, work, art, etc, and gets stressful. Drawing/painting is how I make sense of myself and the world I feel lost without it. Whenever things get challenging drawing is my solution.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Pointillism is the style I work the most often in, I also make abstract paintings. Often my art focuses on whatever emotion or state of mind I’m in at that moment. All my art is a reflection and conversation between what’s going on in my head and the metaphors I use to convey it.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The advice I wish I knew when I started my pointillism drawings is- get really good at understanding your art, write about your art, talk to it, talk to others about it. Your ideas will be so much clearer if you get them out of your head.
