Daily Inspiration: Meet Joy Holdmeier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Holdmeier.

Joy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the fitness industry 20 years ago as a personal trainer, but the thing I remember wanting to be most when growing up was a MOM. I’ve been blessed with a beautiful family and I’ve been lucky to work in many different fitness and health-related positions throughout the years. I’m very passionate about working with mothers on their personal journey to health and fitness. I have trained women for marathons, taught boot camps in the parks, coached women through weight loss, taught elementary PE, managed large fitness departments and more.

I’ve enjoyed the journey and the challenges. I’ve always been creative and had an entrepreneurial mindset. I’m the founder and owner of Go Fit Mom offering online coaching programs for women, I’m a silver leader with doTERRA and an Executive Zyia Active representative. I also work full-time at the Missouri Athletic Club. I do a lot, but there’s so much I enjoy! Most of all I love seeing the success of my clients and sharing in their joy when they’ve changed their life for the better. I’ve been a part of some amazing lifestyle transformations and I want to help every mother reach her full potential.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The fitness and wellness industry is ever-changing, so while I wouldn’t say there were real obstacles in the road, there are always changes in the way we exercise, new science in nutrition, new ways to reach clients and new ways of teaching. It’s a good thing I love change and challenges because you can’t stay still in the fitness industry for too long! I mostly feel like the obstacles and challenges in fitness and nutrition are that the general public is so confused. There is so much information out there and so many people competing for their money and attention. I try to really simplify things for my clients. Moms are so busy. It’s the number one reason for not accomplishing their goals. So… we go back to the basics. I keep things simple and easy.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I coach busy moms who want to make health and lifestyle changes. I do most of my work online because I find time and location to be the biggest obstacles mothers face. I don’t want them to have to drive here or there to meet me. I really believe you can get healthy and fit from anywhere. You don’t need a gym. You don’t need a diet or an expensive program. I can take someone from right where they are and get them started in making changes. Just one thing I require they have… a true desire for change. I specialize in online group challenges where women support and inspire each other. A support system is so vital and often what women are missing. A little motivation, encouragement, and accountability and it’s beautiful to see what can happen.

I’m incredibly proud of so many of the women I’ve worked with who will never go back to their sedentary lives. I am thrilled every time I see them post a photo biking with their kids or enjoying a workout. I love being part of the journey and seeing them live happily. If you go through a lifestyle change the right way you will never go back to the old you. My motto is… “If you love your children, take care of their mother”. I want every mom to hear that and live that. There are so many awesome fitness classes out there. There are so many brilliant trainers. There are so many cool fitness studios and if you find one of these you love…. that’s incredible. I just find many women don’t know where to start or they are intimidated and I can help with that!

How do you think about luck?
I’m pretty big on self-development and having a vision. I believe everything happens for a reason, even if you don’t always see it right away. I don’t leave much to luck.
