Daily Inspiration: Meet Sharae Hines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharae Hines.

Hi Sharae, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My mom always encouraged me to be myself no matter what anyone else thought or said. While growing up was tough at times since I didn’t seem to fit in with any group/clique, I eventually found my way to who I was. I always knew I wanted to be a designer. Ever since I was very little. Through prayer, resilience, determination, and persistence like no other, I am following that dream. Yes, it looks differently than what I pictured as a child, but I am doing it! Although my journey is far from over, I am filling my dreams! And I couldn’t have done it without the support of my mom, who always gave her all to me and my siblings.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was definitely not a smooth road. My mom was me and my siblings roadmap to life. Although not easy, she had to prepare us for the world on her own at times. This is what built me into the woman I am today. Watching and learning from her strength. I want to live out my dreams for her. She held me when I cried about not fitting in and told me to just keep being myself. THAT’S THE BEST ADVICE I’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN! It is so hard to continue to stay true to who you want to be when everything and everyone around you wants you to be something/someone else. So, money want always there. And my confidence want airways there. But, God knows I continue to become better and better daily. My past doesn’t dictate my future. It just ignites my drive towards my goals!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Associate Print Designer for Nordstrom! I specialize in designing prints! I design all kinds of prints, from florals to geos. I design yarn dyes stripes and plaids, as well as embroideries. I have a pretty expansive skill set in designing prints, wovens, knits, and even full collections. But, but my true specialty is Print Design and I truly love it!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t know if I believe in luck per say. But I believe God has truly blessed me. Even in my lowest points, like losing my job during the pandemic, He still gave me peace and I found another designing job. So I don’t think I’d call it luck. I’d rather call it God’s grace!
