Daily Inspiration: Meet Steven Simmons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Simmons.

Steven, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been in the food industry in some capacity for 20 years I’ve been a chef for about 15 years…different restaurants different positions till finding a solid spot at 4 seasons hotel until covid hit.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been smooth with the support of my wife Terran and understanding from our son Terrance….some of the struggles have been doing every aspect of it from ordering product, picking up product, going to get equipment, answering calls and emails, keeping the calendar together (I have to handle every aspect).

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a chef that started The Kitchen Stl and The Kitchen Urban Dining Room….we host weekly brunches and provide a personal dining/event space that comes with a personal chef out of our downtown loft. I’m most proud that in our first 50 brunches all have been soldout events…we are different because we have a very intimate brunch with the menu changing every 3to 4 Sundays! 5 coarse 4 cocktails every Sunday!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Different mentors have been very helpful! Learning what to expect and different ways to handle situations.
