Edit Values Meet Erica Radford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Radford.

Erica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi! I’m Erica from @waitingonerica. I started my blog/Instagram page to share everyday casual fashion. The reason I started was that I worked in a salon as a manager and always had people telling me they like my outfits, shoes, jewelry, etc. Not to sound conceited or anything, but it is always nice to feel fashionable! I worked there while I was in college and I actually did not even start my blog until two or so years after I was working at the salon. I wasted so much time! However, you can’t think about it like that. I originally started sharing my outfits on my personal Instagram page but decided that I needed a “business” one. (Boy was I wrong!) I then created my blog, Better Late Than Ugly Blog. Now at the time, it made a lot of sense for me to call it that. I. AM. LATE. TO. EVERYTHING! Fast forward two more years and a lot of things changed. I was in a new relationship, starting law school, moving to a new town, etc.

By January 2020, I was finally accepted to the platform. It’s a platform where you can link all kinds of items from fashion to home decor, and I’m sure more. After about another half a year, I decided that I wanted to rebrand. I felt like Better Late Than Ugly Blog just was not the best fit anymore and almost felt a little harsh. No one wants to be called ugly. So I searched for different names and landed on Waiting on Erica. When we’re late for something, my family and boyfriend always blame it on the fact that we’re “waiting on Erica.” The name was only fitting! Fast forward to now and lots of other changes have happened. I am almost done with law school (going into my last semester), still in the middle of a pandemic, moved back home, etc.

My grandparents passed away within six months of one another and I have had a really hard time getting back into social media. I also have had a hard time with comparison and gaining weight, but I am ready to get back in the swing of things. I am really grateful for the opportunity to tell my story and I hope you will all join along!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It most certainly has not been a smooth road. I play the comparison game all the time. It’s hard not to. I also struggled with gaining weight. I started law school after not being in school for 3 years. That was a huge transition. I struggled with time management and scheduling content. I have had my family pass away. I moved a few times. I ended an old relationship and started a new one.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work as a paralegal at Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville, Illinois. As part of my job, I am drafting legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings; conducting legal research; meeting with clients and answering the phones if needed, and lots more! Our firm focuses on employment law/discrimination, personal injury, and workers’ compensation. Leskera Law Firm has been in Collinsville since 1997. I think the best part is that I get to continue working here once I completed law school in December. I will have to pass the bar in February, of course, but look forward to continuing with the firm.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have had many supporters along the way. Credit immediately goes out to my boyfriend, Justin. He is constantly supporting me no matter what. He always takes my pictures when I need him to and he never complains. And of course my family. They are always supportive and like every picture/story/reel I post. My grandma is even on Facebook all of the time commenting on everything! I also have to shout out to all of my friends on Instagram. If they didn’t enjoy the content I was producing or didn’t support me with likes and comments, my blog wouldn’t be possible.

I also want to thank any brand that has ever wanted to work with me!
