Exploring Life & Business with DJ Mos Precious of Most Precious Promotions & Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Mos Precious.

DJ Mos Precious, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The question is how did I get started? Determination and faith are the two words that come to mind.

Truthfully my big brother Bonez was the reason and motivation that started it all. He is a big Bone Thugs N Harmony fan, My younger sister Priceless Pranksta and Myself used to spit lyrics over their instrumentals in our mom’s basement. He encouraged me to rap fast and the rest was history. I started my career as a Poet and Hip Hop Artist. From there, the MPP brand was born. Rather I go by the name Mos Precious or International Mos P, my journey is filled with all things music, media, and empowerment.

I feel that having hard-working parents has molded me to be the businesswoman I am today. My dad invested in my concession stand business while I was a senior in high school and had senior dues and cell phone bills and so much more to pay for. His investment jump-started my entrepreneurship journey. My mom worked a lot to make sure my siblings and I were well nourished. In entertainment, you have to display music knowledge and be very business savvy to survive. I am proud to say, the investments and encouragement from my dad, mom and big Brother instilled dedication, determination and the strength to push forward plus empower others throughout my journey.

Alongside business, I have spread my wings in entertainment at a very young age, as a poet inspired by Tupac and Lauryn Hill, I have released multiple studio projects from mixtapes titled, “Diamond District: Come Meet Me at The Arch (2010), “Entrance Door” (Late 2010), “Not Gon Tell Lies” (2011) and Compilation titled “618 to 314 From Across the Bridge” featuring Rain Gee and Young Lazy (2012) and   to LP called “Late Night Thoughts”.  I want to make sure I give a major shout out to the Late and amazing Rain Gee, who has played a major part in my journey and others femcees around the globe with all her support and networking.  Advancing is one of my strongest attributions, I started lending my hands in other areas such as artist manager, Mixshow DJ, Blogger, and DJ. I have been called a multi-facet talent curator, who creates realities out of the impossible. Back in 2012, I was invited to become a worldwide Fleet DJ and started an entire chapter in my hometown of St. Louis called Missouri Fleet DJs and soon after became the Manager of Worldwide Fleet DJs chapters Midwest Fleet DJ’s and now International Fleet DJs.

When I become a radio jockey at my university, I never imagine that I it would lead me to become International Cruise Ship DJ for one of the largest Cruise Ship Lines in the world, Carnival Cruise Lines. I continued to create new layers for my legacy by taking a leap to become an entrepreneur, while attending the University Of Missouri – St. Louis and haven’t looked back since. As a very successful owner of multiple businesses such as Most Precious Promotions & Productions LLC, Midwest Fleet Radio, USA Blog Network, and now MPP Studios, I encourage you all to believe in your purpose and strive for it. Empowerment and networking is my motto and surely has helped me build some legendary partnerships and relationships everywhere I touched soil.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
First and Foremost, I am an introvert at heart and whenever I perform, DJ, or have to an extrovert I need multiple days to recharge. I know that sounds crazy but usually the most artistic individuals are all introverts. For the past 16 years, I found myself fighting constantly to be my vibrant self and to walk in my truth but I found a way to persevere. From facing character defamation to losing one of the dopest female innovators I had the pleasure of knowing and during music with to classmates almost led me to quit it all away.

There have been good times and plenty of kodak moments, which outweigh those challenges. Also, while facing these struggles, I have learned how to be stronger and found more understanding of what purpose truly is for me on this earth
