Exploring Life & Business with Keoanna Lockett of ReKwired Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keoanna Lockett.

Hi Keoanna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My beauty journey began in Middle school I was FINALLY allowed to wear lipgloss! You couldn’t tell me that I wasn’t fly! I have always loved all types of cosmetics products so I guess creating this company was inevitable as well.

My friend Latrice encouraged me to start my own line, also my husband (Danny) played a big part in starting ReKwired Cosmetics. I wanted to make sure that our products were clean and safe for everybody. We offer body butter, beard care lines, lip gloss, matte lipstick, and lip oil. We will be releasing soon body soap, body scrubs, and a hair repair line. We have shipped to all 50 states and to the U.S. Virgin Islands, and London.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting our business was rough as we started looking for a name for our company, making sure that the vendors that we were working with were really hearing us out on our wants and needs when it came to our products. Once the core of our company was in place everything else started running smoothly! In our first year, we hit every single goal that we set in place was achieved. Well, until August 3, 2021, when I was admitted into the hospital for double Pneumonia that later turned into COVID-19. I was truly fighting for my life I was told that I was hours from being placed on a ventilator.

My husband and I prayed to the highest for healing and guidance. I was never placed on a ventilator after that prayer. I later developed two blood and 1 staph infection. I stayed in the hospital for 3 months fighting to get back home to my husband and our 3 beautiful nieces/daughters. While in the hospital my family stepped up and filled every order and kept the company running!

I’m so blessed to have them, I was released to come home on November 4, 2021, to start my total healing process which was easier said than done! I’m still on oxygen and still doing therapy to get my strength back up. Now, let’s fast forward to a year later I’m still on a small amount of oxygen and I’m 5 days away from giving birth to our son! God is so faithful!!

As you know, we’re big fans of ReKwired Cosmetics LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We’re a newly established, small, Black-Owned and operated business. We use natural ingredients so our products are Vegan, Paraben-free, and Cruelty-Free. We also research what’s best for our customers and we love sending out samples upon request. Especially since some of our products are made by hand. Our product’s goal is to meet and transcend our customer’s expectations.

We were founded with one goal in mind: to create strong, lasting relationships with our customers by providing a high-quality, smart, and reliable online store. Our passion for excellence has driven us from the beginning and continues to drive us into the future. We know that every product counts, and strive to make your entire shopping experience as easy, rewarding, and fulfilling as possible.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is to pray over your business idea making sure that you are seeking that correct guidance. Also, do your research on everything from business licenses, business trademarks, products, customers, etc.

What I later found out that I didn’t know before was stranger will support you more than your family and friends!

Which is a great thing because you’re getting your name and products out for the world to see.
