Exploring Life & Business with Maya Robinson of Mayas Dream House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Robinson.

Hi Maya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a big dreamer and go-getter since I was a little girl. If I want to do something, I try it out and keep at it if I love it. There have been painful periods in my life, and they’ve all contributed to my current state of being. I truly believe you can be anything you want to be. There is no denying any part of myself that drives me to do what I do and help others.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Struggles for me, especially at the beginning of my journey, were my mental health and lack of self-worth. I became aware that there was a much more positive way to live and exist which made me want better. So a lot of inner work came up for me to heal. In my early 20s, things like the desperation for relationships, validation, and money stunted my growth and my ability to focus on what was best for me. Mental blocks were my biggest obstacle. Today they’re my biggest teacher.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mayas Dream House?
Mayas Dream House is my way of helping people achieve their dreams. Through health and fitness, beauty, creativity, and lifestyle. I have been building this brand/name for years using social media. I started a youtube channel and Instagram page in 2012 and knew I wanted to eventually use my platform and influence to build a real business. MDH is known for being dreamy, inspiring, and pink. I started turning my brand into a business in February of this year. I intend to open Mayas Dream House in Columbia, Missouri, a 9,600 sq. ft. health and fitness, beauty, and lifestyle space. Each space offers memberships and services like a gym membership, makeup appointments, life coaching, and office space. It is very social media influenced and very pink. I am proud of the courage to pursue something so “large” and personal. Mayas Dream House is MY dream and a fun way of contributing to society through service.

What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit if you had to?
Resilience, patience, love, and joy. I couldn’t choose just one! More recently, I’ve realized that dreams come true if you are patient with yourself and never give up. I have the resilience to take the next step knowing that one day it will be patience. If you care that much about a dream, you can afford to be patient with it while you walk ahead. Love yourself for where you are, love life, and have so much fun while doing these things. Love and joy are huge catalysts for success.
