Today we’d like to introduce you to Schalene Houston-Butler.

Hi Schalene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always loved the media. When I was a child, I would watch the news with my mother every evening. My favorite anchor was Clarice Tinsley from KDFW. I aspired to be a reporter/news anchor. After completing my degree and entering the real world, I realized being on camera wasn’t my dream.

Instead, I found passion in telling the stories of others, not only helping them to get their story told but also heard. I have dreamt of owning my own media company since 2014. As a producer, I realized a need for passionate media specialists who can guide businesses and organizations in the right direction to strengthen their brand recognition.

It is my goal to purposefully spread awareness for each of my clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road! Starting my own business has not been easy at all but with much prayer and being my own “hype woman,” I push myself daily to keep going. I also have a full-time job, so I really do juggle my different jobs each day.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Schalene Houston Media Services?
Working with me means you’re getting 14 years of experience in the radio/television industry. Not only do I have the education but I also have the experience to go along with it. I’m passionate about what I do and nothing can top education and experience better than EXCITEMENT!

Once I’m on board with a project I feel passionate about and connected with, I’m as excited about the project as if it were my own. As of now, I’m only offering public and media relations services. I’m a one-woman show determined to always provide excellent service, so my client roster is limited for 2022.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I don’t just have one quality or one characteristic. I feel you have to be passionate and a hard worker in order to be successful. In addition to your passion and hard-working ethics, you have to be a bit of a risk-taker willing to get out of your comfort zone in order to achieve a level of success.
