Hi Sri, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my career as a management consultant with EY. One thing that really attracted me was entrepreneurship. I felt i needed the freedom to explore my creative self and blend it with business. I jointed as a partner with a small startup in Health tech and that was my first real venture which really challenged me. After a successful stint of about 9 years there where I oversaw a 50X growth, I was ready for something new.
After spending over 20 years in consulting with large and small organizations, one thing that stood out was the level of disengagement and lack of proper alignment between the leadership and people working there at lower levels. This led to me starting Engagedly with my current partners. We had some really interesting times in the first couple of years but now we are a global HR Tech SaaS organization with people working for us in four continents, 6 different countries and clients in over 40 countries.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While it may seem smooth from the outside, success is never a straight line. We got out of the gate with a strong value proposition in building highly engaged teams for our clients, however we quickly realized that market was not ready to pay for it yet. We decided to pivot to focusing on improving the performance management processes. No one likes annual performance reviews so we decided to focus on making that process a continuous approach to drive better results and improve engagement that directly led to better performance outcomes.
Our business then took off after that. However the Pandemic threw another curve ball and we had to pivot again to supporting remote teams with our product.
It took us almost 7 years to get to series A but we are on a strong path to growth now.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Focus on first principles and understand the problem you are trying to solve before jumping into your solution. Understand and know your buyer to the extent you can. Analyze but not over-analyze. This can lead to analysis paralysis. Then get started. You will figure it out along the way. Not all answers are always available, answers reveal themselves when you start.
One thing I wish I knew was staying focussed not getting distracted by new shiny ideas. Success takes time and effort,.. a lot of it!
