Exploring Life & Business with Zoya Ahmed of Esthetics By Zoya

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoya Ahmed.

Zoya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was young, my mom use to tell stories about being an esthetician, and that piqued my interest. As I got older, I got into makeup quite a bit and would always watch hauls and tutorials on YouTube any chance I got wanting to learn and create. During a meeting with a counselor in high school, I had mentioned what my interest was and what I wanted to kind of pursue since I believe it was around the time for seniors to apply for colleges. she had told me then that there was. a school I could attend to become a licensed esthetician. I looked into schools but because of some circumstances at the time, I attended college first which did not suit well with me. After trying the college route, I applied to beauty school and once I had started and learned that there was so much I can do and learn in the field I got interested in the skin science aspect of it more.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road, but when has the journey ever been smooth for anyone when they want success in something they want to passionately pursue. Many of the struggles can come from within yourself and as well as from outside. There have been many days where I have doubted myself and my career. I have had days where I have cried, been so stressed, frustrated with myself or situations around me. There have been many days where I am certain that this is meant for me. I always had to remind myself that I am competing against who I was yesterday and do better and work harder today. That also meant giving myself days to take in what I have at the moment and to take care of myself and appreciate my journey. Ignoring those around me saying and giving negative energy. You have to be your biggest supporter and believe and remind yourself that you can do it, and be patient with yourself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in making people feel and look their best, meaning I work with my clients to help achieve their best skin health and confidence through skincare and/or makeup. I have been told many times that this is what I was meant to do because of the way I make my clients feel afterwards. They feel more relaxed, rejuvenated, beautiful and more confident which is the biggest reward for me because I made a positive difference in a person. I provide services such as makeup, facial treatments, body waxing, threading and henna. II love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for the world.

What’s next?
I have many plans and goals set for the future. I would love to open a place of my own and provide a wide range of services and be able to give other creative and ambitious people a chance to grow and have fun and be creative. So many ideas that I hope to one day achieve, but I guess we will see where life can take me. Being able to learn something new everyday, gain knowledge, perform new treatments. Being able to make a positive difference in a person’s life and make them feel good. If I am doing those things at the end of the day then that’s good enough for me.
