Today we’d like to introduce you to McKenna Rhine.
Hi McKenna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
When Covid hit life became different and as most can say it made life difficult. In March of 2020, I was heartbroken that my sophomore year of high school ended so early. I knew that life couldn’t go down in sadness, so I took on a job that allowed me to stay at home and keep my mind off of the outside world.
Baking has changed my life for the better. When I started my journey I never thought that it would get to the point where I have to turn orders down daily. Going to school full-time, keeping time for family and friends, baking on the side has become very busy but I wouldn’t change it for anything! Taking a few orders weekly has definitely kept me on my toes and has allowed me to do what I love! Bake!
As I do not know what my life looks like after high school, I do know that I can say that I ran a business and I might still be able to say that in the future even if it’s just my side hustle.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When my business started to grow it was very difficult to keep up with so many orders a week and still keep time for friends and family. It was a struggle to turn people down but I knew that it had to happen.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
McKenna’s Sugar Time Bakery is always growing with different options! My cakes and decorated sugar cookies have been my top sellers. Being able to do a wide variety of desserts has been great for clients that want to try something new, or have a variety of options at parties!
Any big plans?
I plan on going to Jefferson College and getting an elementary education degree and bake on the side!
