Hidden Gems: Meet Sarah Dolin of Sorella Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Dolin.

Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started doing hair when I was 18, almost 23 years ago, and about 5 years ago, I decided I needed a change. I worked 6 plus days a week and had just had my daughter. I didn’t want to miss out on her life, but I worked nonstop and paycheck to paycheck. I was tired and worn out. I heard about an extension training in Orange County, CA, called NBR, short for Natural Beaded Rows. I had no idea it would change my life and my career for the better. After that training, I removed all my clients except color clients and started marketing for extensions only. Within a few months, I was starting to make changes. I stopped working Saturdays and cut my hours and days back. I now only work 4 days a week. The extensions allowed me to open my salon with my sister, Salon Sorella. We opened in August of 2020, and I tripled my income in the last few years. My dreams have become a reality, and I have started working on creating an extension line and some tools. Which will hopefully launch this fall. Sorella styling extensions are on the way, and I couldn’t be more excited about where my path is going

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not smooth. It is hard work being an owner. And there were lots of learning curves wo, n’t the extensions. I spent a lot of time and money in training during the first 2 years. I went to California 6 times in two years, and it was not cheap but worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of Sorella salon. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a boutique hair extension salon. I specialize in NBR extensions. We are known for our color and extensions. I am proud of the business we have built and the extension hairline I’m launching this year. If you want the best hair in St. Louis, give us a try.

Any big plans?
The hair extension brand is coming out soon. Hopefully the fall.
