Hidden Gems: Meet Stella Webb of Soul Sanctuary

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stella Webb.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in poverty on the South Side in St. Louis City in an abusive home. I married young and had children young, but through it all, I was always very spiritual and always knew there was something powerful inside me. I became a minister and missionary young as well, living in various countries in Central America and several states in the U.S. helping others in whatever way that was needed, from washing clothes by hand to lending an ear during difficult times to cooking over an open fire for dozens of people – and I loved it all thoroughly.

In my thirties, I came to realize I needed to heal from my childhood trauma and set out on a path to do just that, which helped me to eventually see that personal healing and growth is a lifelong processes. In my forties, I became a columnist and social activist to advocate for victims of domestic violence and other injustices, but after losing an adult son in a car accident, something inside me changed. I came to understand that real change comes from within. If I want a world of love, It started with me. If I want a world of peace, it started with me. So I stopped fighting and started loving.

This transition was not seamless. Many times I picked up the fight again – against this or that perceived injustice to another person – only to realize in the end that I was not meant to be a part of that fight. I was meant to bring peace to the situation and instead I had only made things worse. This happened multiple times before I realized I was failing in my quest to be the change I wanted to see in this world. It’s taken years to get to a point on my path where the culmination of my personal healing and growth has brought me to a place of inner peace and love.

Now I spend my days helping others to heal their inner wounds so they can continue to grow, as well. I do this with the hope that together we can all reach our full potential as humans, making our lives more fulfilling and balanced – and then take that inner peace and stability into our daily lives to make the world around us better in the process.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One would assume that going straight from an abusive childhood home to being a wife, mother and minister would be a beautiful thing, but in reality, I was ill-prepared for any of those new roles. I did the best I could, but I grew up without a father in my life, and an abusive mother, and had seen few healthy and thriving relationships to help me to know how to navigate my own.

I also struggled with trust and abandonment issues, as victims of abuse often do, and all of this worked against me while working toward my deep desire to just be able to love others in a meaningful way and receive their love in return.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Soul Sanctuary facilitates opportunities for spiritual renewal and healing through meditation sessions, Reiki, nature-honoring rituals, classes, and more. Soul Sanctuary was intentionally fashioned to make it easy and convenient to find the time and space for a sacred pause.

Healing the inner wounds: If you have a physical wound on your arm and let it fester and get infected instead of taking the time to nurture and heal it, it can impact your entire physical body. The same is true of our spirit – our energetic body. If we allow an inner wound to go unhealed, it can impact our entire energetic body for years or even decades. In turn, this can affect how we show up in the world, how we interact with those around us and our loved ones… and even ourselves. That’s why it’s so important to make time to heal those inner wounds.

Stella is a Reiki Master Teacher with years of experience and many happy clients. She also writes and leads soul-deep meditations designed to nourish the soul.

We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
