Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Maurya.
Hi Tanya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I recieved bachelor’s degree from IHM Mumbai Started home based business in 2021.
I actually don’t know how I started but opening a bakery was our retirement plan. We as in me and my sisters who actually play a very important role.
I graduated in the year when the pandemic hit the world. Hospitality is one of the industries most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only many people in the industry have lost their job, but there were very less jobs for the freshers and i was one of them. At that time I was confused and depressed about what to do with my life.
I wasn’t interested in baking my whole life but I did find it fascinating. I used to bake cakes with cake mix and i used to enjoy bakery classes in college. So I decided why not do it for a living.
I started baking cakes from scratch. My bakery is 100% vegetarian that means no egg. So I started creating my recipes which are eggless. As you know baking is all about eggs and flour and not using eggs in your product is a very big task. Getting the desired product without eggs is a little trickier so I have to do many trials before launching a product.
It wasn’t simple but I had support of my family but mostly of my sister Nishu. She was the one who always pushed me and helped me get where I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t a smooth journey for me as I was new to this industry and didn’t know how things work here but I got a lot of help from my father as he is a businessman, he knows a bit about this industry and how things work. My greatest challenge was pricing, because everything here is eggless and made from scratch due to which there is a lot of variation in price for the baked goods than in other bakeries. Many people get cookies from the grocery stores because they are cheaper but we offer you customized cookies made with love at a reasonable price and made from scratch. At The N.A.T.S Bakery, you will find your baked goods at a reasonable price with a flavour to die for!!
We’ve been impressed with The N.A.T.S Bakery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
People always wonder what does N.A.T.S in the brand name means because it is not even a word. But it is a very significant name for us as it signifies me and my siblings and the bond that we share. We are four siblings and the acronym goes by the Nishu, Aishwary, Tanya and Somya. This bakery defines us and we give that personalized touch to our products and that is why this bakery is very close to my heart.
We offer delicious home-baked eggless products such as cakes pasteries, cookies, cupcakes, muffins and many more items yet to come.
Our specialty is eggless products and we are motive is to make each and every baked product without eggs.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Well, I am an open book. I don’t know that if there is something surprising about me that people don’t know but there is something I haven’t told anyone…….i guess While studying bakery as a part of my curriculum, I wasn’t always interested in it I always wanted to opt for front office in a hotel or study for a master’s degree and do a 9 to 5 job. But in the lockdown, many things changed and here I am.
