Inspiring Conversations with Lora Moore of LifestylesbyLora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lora Moore.

Hi Lora, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Before 2020 I was working part-time training out of a local gym. When gyms closed, people still needed to work out, and I still needed a job. I started training virtually. I spent hours each day training clients via facetime or google duo with whatever equipment they had at home. Once lockdowns were over, I started training people outside at the park behind my home. By July 2020, I had converted the lower level of my home into a gym. Because you could not find equipment anywhere, I drove all over the state, picking up a pair of dumbbells here and there, buying from individuals mostly on the FB marketplace, etc. It took months to acquire what I needed just to get started. Once the gym was outfitted and running, I started seeing people here. It grew very quickly from just a few clients to so many. Even though gyms had reopened, people were still very cautious and most liked working out without the crowd of a gym around. It became our little sacred space to keep working out and minimize the risk of catching anything since we were always one-on-one. I kept seeing more and more people, and by the grace of God, it just kept growing. I still train some folks virtually, as I have acquired many who are not local to the STL area. At the start of 2022, I launched my very own app. It allows me to help more people by delivering the same programming I offer at their fingertips for a fraction of the cost. If their schedules don’t let them see they or I am traveling, they always have access to the same workouts at their hotel gym, gym closer to home, or even at home, as it also provides them with at-home options. Since I am a small business, I still work one on one with everyone, and they know that even though they are getting their workouts via the app, there is still a natural person and trainer checking in on them and available for questions! Today I still see clients individually and virtually and help many more through my app.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it was difficult initially since equipment costs skyrocketed in the pandemic, and I had to drive hours all over the state to acquire everything. That was probably the hardest part other than my two kids adjusting to me working so much and taking clients downstairs all day.

I would not say. However, it’s been a rough road. My clients are quite simply the most amazing tribe of women. I feel so blessed to have every one of them. It is a huge privilege to walk beside these girls as they find their best bodies, freedom with food, and most importantly, watch them love themselves the most they ever have. I get to walk with them through weddings and pregnancies and all the stages of their lives. I feel like I have the best job in the world, and I get to hang out with my girlfriends all day! I am just so very blessed and inspired by each one of them.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a lifestyle coach. I am a personal trainer and nutritional coach. I help women find their best bodies, get stronger, and teach them how to properly fuel and care for their bodies. I am different from other coaches because I truly believe in every client’s individualized and sustainable plan. No two people are the same, and their plans shouldn’t be either. I work closely with each client to learn enough about them, their history, and their lives so we can design a plan that fits THEIR life and is one they can make work for the long term. I want to help them get exactly where they want to be once and be able to maintain that. I am most proud of all the women I see who are much stronger and happier in their bodies. I am proud of their hard work and dedication to the process, of them looking amazing but, more importantly, feeling the best they have ever felt. They set great examples for their little ones (often coming with them). I want readers to know that I have been more than 100lbs overweight twice in my life, and I am just like them and have been through all the same struggles. I want to see women love their bodies and feel their strongest! I want them to understand that my heart is really in helping them. That is why I do what I do; that drives me.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting?
My best advice is to focus on the people. If you truly have the heart of wanting to help others, you will be successful. I have always just tried to be the most help and support I can, and it’s what has made me successful. I wish I knew that I would be working so much more, like all the time. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
