Life & Work with Emma Trueman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Trueman.

Hi Emma, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a kid, I remember walking around my neighborhood collecting cool rocks and minerals I had found.

I was fascinated by my little rock collection and began to read all of the crystal-related books I could find in my elementary school library. Fast forward about 10 years and I was still very interested in the world of crystals, so I started my business at 18 in June of 2021.

I started out with little items such as tumbles, raw chunks, small carvings, and towers and was able to slowly expand and personalize my inventory into what it is now! I’m still growing my business but every day I get one step closer to where I hope to end up!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In November I had to abruptly stop my business due to a health scare as well as mental health issues.

I had sold all of my supplies and inventory as I thought I was done with it for good. Though this May I had found my way back into doing what I love, couldn’t ignore my calling!

I’m slowly starting to recover from having to completely start over but I think this is the journey I was supposed to take. This time around I have gotten into doing pop-ups and trying to expand my business locally, which has been very fun!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in high-quality collection worthy pieces from all over the world such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, & more. I personally select every piece that goes into my shop to ensure the quality and energy are up to my standards.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
What has worked for me personally is connecting with local businesses via social media & pop-ups as well as connecting with businesses within my niche on platforms such as discord.

There we have built a strong community that helps each other out, which I think is super important in starting your journey.
