Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Howard.
Hi Kelsey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started doing photography when I was just a little kid, I have always had a thing for photography and loved being able to take a picture and put my own spin on it to reflect my journey, my life, where I have been, or just anything in general.
I have been self-teaching myself since I was a kid, everything I do in my photography is because I have taught myself how to do it or how much of something to do to make sure it appeals to others looking at my photographs.
I’m always learning and doing better each time and I strive to continue to get better as the months, and years go on.
Photography is what I love doing it’s my passion, it’s what makes me happy and gives me peace, it calms me down and that’s why I love being a photographer. I love that I can leave work and just drive somewhere to take some shots of whatever catches my eye!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Photography is like anything else; it has its ups and downs because photography is a very competitive field and it’s hard to get noticed sometimes but I just keep going and keep taking photos because I absolutely love it!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work from home full time at MBS Textbook Exchange here in Columbia, MO but I do my photography on the side as just a hobby and see what people like and what they don’t.
I absolutely love doing black and white photography and that’s what I’m known for doing, but I range anywhere from landscape/nature photography, boudoir, automotive photography, animal photography, building photography, and even food photography!
I’m most proud of all of my photography in general because it’s my passion but I think I stand apart from others just because I do a little bit of everything, I’m not just a landscape photographer or just an animal photographer I do everything!
What makes you happy?
Photography absolutely makes me happy, it gives me peace, and it’s my outlet!
There is just something about being behind a camera when something catches your eye and taking a photo of it than editing it, later on, to give the photo your own twist to make it you and who you are!!
