Today we’d like to introduce you to Markeon Edwards.
Hi Markeon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started when I was 14 years of age. I begin to take photos with a camera phone and pose as a model occasionally. Never did I think I’d peruse both as a career.
Later down the line, my mom enrolled me in modeling and acting classes to enhance my talents for my future.
Although, at that time my dream was to work in the medical field as a pediatrician because I enjoyed working with children and because being an entrepreneur wasn’t spoken of when I was in high school.
As we fast forward to today. I am now an entrepreneur, I own a non-profit organization called Be Original, and I am also a model with many other talents.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The challenges of my success have never been smooth but every challenge has been worth it. Each struggle allowed me to gain wisdom, strength, insight, and courage.
Abilities I would’ve never had if the road was easy. Therefore I embrace every struggle, I’m grateful for every trial because, without them, I couldn’t inspire the people I inspire today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a celebrity photographer, videographer, model, and motivational speaker.
I am most proud of the lives I’ve changed through my words. At one time, I was afraid to speak on camera to encourage others but the feedback I get when I put myself out there lets me know I’m in alignment with God’s will.
The energy to shift any situation, the power to never allow my emotions to consume me, and the wisdom to think through any problem are what sets me apart from others.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I enjoy about St. Louis is the food.
You could never go wrong with a good box of rice from the right location and Imo’s pizza. Actually, Imo’s pizza was my first job in 10th grade.
The colleagues that I worked with there also played a part in who I am today.
