Meet Amber Mercedes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Mercedes.

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My business Lashed By Mercedes was inspired by my love and passion for lashes and beauty. In 2019 I was overworked, stressed, but yet still determined. I decided that I wanted to start a business and quit my job because I wanted to not only become my own boss, but I wanted to serve a purpose for women. When I put on lashes, I feel more confident in myself knowing I look and feel good. Starting a business was very scary at first but starting any new journey can be. I have learned so many things as an entrepreneur, but my biggest lesson was working hard even when I feel down, sad, or overwhelmed. I am the person I am today because I never gave up. I kept promoting and posting my business no matter if I had 5 likes, 20 likes or zero likes. Being determined and praying to God every single day has gotten me where I am today. Also, my supporters and costumers has played a big role in my success as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I had a lot of struggles starting my business off. I did not have any guidance or a rule book on how to “Run a business” the only thing I had was myself and the internet. Starting a business I did a lot of research on YouTube and Google on how to do different things. I had no idea where to get the lashes from, how to start a website, how to create business cards or anything related to business at all. I am always open to learning so I didn’t mind finding resources without asking anyone for help. Once I finally found a vendor I was scammed which frustrated me. Thankfully by the grace of God, I was able to find a new vendor who has been my supplier for 2 years. My biggest advice to people who want to start a business is to be sure to get samples of products and most importantly do your research! All the right answers will never be given to you; you have to work hard and stay consistent with everything.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a business entrepreneur and certified lash technician. I sell high quality cruelty free mink eyelash strips and I am a United States lash wholesaler.

I define myself as an artist because lash extensions is a work of art. Currently, I specialize in volume and hybrid lash extensions and I have been lashing for about four months. Even though I have only been lashing for a short amount of time my growth has been something I am very proud of.

Being a lash technician in the beginning was very overwhelming for me, but with practice, I have become better every single set. My creativity, personality, and determination has set me apart from other lash technicians. I take my precious time to perfect my craft each and everyday and it shows.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned in my journey so far is patience is key. Without patience, it is so easy to give up because you are not disciplined enough to understand with faith and patience everything will fall in place. I am a strong believer in God’s timing and not my own. When I first started being an entrepreneur I wanted to be rich now, I wanted money now, I wanted everybody to know my brand now. I had to realize that God didn’t want that for me at that moment and that’s ok. It took me two years to learn patience and I know 2022 will bring me many blessings.
