Meet Brandi Bevley of Natural Crowns

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Bevley.

Hi Brandi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My husband and I have been entrepreneurs for a few years. In 2018, I went on a self-love journey. I had just birthed our second child and only girl. I wanted to show her that it’s okay to love yourself inside and outside. I used to mask my natural beauty with makeup and weave (braids and sew-ins). I wanted to start up a business that would help people of the black community to feel beautiful about themselves. So, during the pandemic in 2020. I started to do a lot of research about how to start a natural hair company. At the time, I was trying to grow my daughter’s hair, so I decided that would be the first set of products I wanted to make. I did a lot of research, finally came up with the formulas, and found the vendor for the ingredients I wanted to use. I tested out the products for months on all 3 of my children. Once we got the kid’s hair care line. We went back to the drawing board and created more products. When we launched on 03/06/2021 (my grandmother’s birthday), we had body butter, body scrub, a kid’s hair care line, and a beard line. We started doing local pop-up shops the same month we launched to showcase our brand. As customers started asking about different products, we added them to our inventory. To date, we offer a kids and adult hair care line, body butter, soap, beard care line, lip gloss, lip scrub, lip oil, bonnets, and hair styling tools, and we are about to release a yoni wash. We have shipped to over 16 states. Also, selected kid products are located in the Saint Louis Galleria Mall in the Wall Street store. Our goals are for our products to reach the entire United States by the end of 2022 so our brand can be known as a household brand.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth and easy road. Our launch date was originally set for the end of 2020; however, the pandemic forced us to push the date back a few months the lack of finding the product containers I wanted to use and the delayed shipping times caused some issues. Also, we had to experiment and find what formulas work to achieve the best results. It took some time, but we were patient and trusted the process.

As you know, we’re big fans of Natural Crowns. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Natural Crowns offers natural hair and skin care products for the entire family. When creating their products, we wanted to make sure they were proven to show results and safe to use. Our product lines are vegan and cruelty-free. Also, they are sulfate and paraben free. We wanted to make sure the products were reasonably priced as well. We take pride in the products we create, so we make small batches at a time. Our children also help in this business. Our local STL community knows when you see Natural Crowns, you will see the entire family. Our children are ages 9, 4, and 3. The oldest 2 children help fill the products, sell at pop-up shops, and fullfilling the orders. Our brand is a truly family dynamic.
