Meet Chef Jamar Griddine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef Jamar Griddine.

Hi Chef Jamar, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started baking with my mom at first. She taught me everything about baking. Then in high school, I had the opportunity to go to Herndon Career Center where I took culinary Arts and from there, I got to expand my mind more about the food industry. Then after high school, I made lots of connections, won competitions, joined different organizations to get my name out there. And with the help of my people, my supporters, family, friends, and mentors. I was able to do what I love doing. I love sharing my passion for food. Cooking is how I express how I feel. In every bite that you take, you Taste my Story.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been an easy being a Young Entrepreneur/Private Chef. I’ve had people not push me because they thought I was going to get ahead of them. But isn’t that why we have mentors, teachers, and leaders. See how I see it is this. US young people have the Drive, Determination, Ambition, Intelligence. Older People have the Knowledge, Wisdom, and Connections. So why not help the young people.

My favorite quote is: “Those Who can’t do teach And Those who can’t teach, teach gym.’ By George Bernard.

This literally means that people who are able to do something well can do that thing for a living, while people who are not able to do anything that will make a living by teaching.

Some would say I have an old soul and that’s because throughout my trials and tribulations, I have learned that we can’t let our struggles define who we are as a person.

YOU ARE MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU THINK!!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a 22 years old young entrepreneur. I am a Private Chef, Traveling Chef and more. I am a food fanatic and I have a true passion for fine culinary arts and baking just about anything my heart tells me. I love giving back to the community. Throughout the year, I host events in Kansas City. In November, I sell my Holiday packages for Thanksgiving. In August, we do a back to school event for the kids. In October, I put on this three-course fine dining meal in Kansas City called “THE RED CARPET SERVICE! In December, Me and some Friends collect Christmas Toys and Give them away to kids and family in Need. And I sell Seafood Platters.

What I am most proud of is that because I followed GOD and Trusted him even when it got hard. Even when I was at my lowest point, I had to keep going because I knew where I was going. Even when they told me I wasn’t going to make it. Well, I got news for you. It’s never been about me. It’s never about you. It never was. It was all about him and because of that. I stepped out on faith and moved from Kansas City. I currently live in Atlanta GA. Now, I get to do what GOD told me eight years ago what we were going to do.

What sets me apart is that I am young. Ambitious. I have an old Soul. But most importantly, I have God and that’s all I need. We going to continue to rise and overcome challenges and trials. See it’s NOT what you go through, it’s who’s there with you when you go through it!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My Favorite Childhood memory is when I was with my mom. After school and sometimes on the weekend, I would help my mom out in the kitchen. I found interest in it. Because it was fun because my mom made it fun. The late nights. The “hey, son can you watch the cake and take it out when it is done? The “hey, son can you mix eggs, vanilla, and milk together? The “hey, son can you wash the dishes for me? These memories and the moments that I had with my mom & Family I will never forget. Shout to my mom! I think that if anything I just want my mom to be proud of her Son. I am changing the Family Tradition and dynamic.

Love you mom!
