Meet Claire Hadler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Hadler.

Hi Claire, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Claire Hadler, a nineteen-year-old creative and owner of the photography business, ByClaireHadler. It is truly difficult to pinpoint the moment my creative journey started, because honestly, I have been creating ever since I was a little girl. When I was nine, I started making American Girl Doll stop motion videos and then posting them on YouTube… yes, I’m serious! Even though that is a slight embarrassing fact to share to a stranger on the internet, I had to include it because it shows how creativity has been a spark in my life ever since I was little. But today, that spark has ignited into a fire.

I am currently a student at Liberty University in Virginia studying Strategic Communication and Graphic Design, as well as running a full-time photography business out of Missouri and Virginia.

I always enjoyed photography but was never looking for it to become my job. However, a few free sessions and a “just for fun” photography account later, it quickly started to become more than that.

All I did was continue to say yes. Senior pictures? Yes. A kid’s third birthday party? Yes. Family photos? Yes. Eventually, those questions started to turn into “weddings?” YES.

I fell in love with shooting and capturing couples from the moment the proposal happened all the way to the sparkler exit on their big day. While my yes’ grew, so did my passion. I grew to become a wedding photographer that loves my job so deeply, even through busy seasons of balancing photography and school.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many photography seasons have consisted of sleepless nights with schoolwork on one screen and Lightroom on the other, which has led to the start of burnout. I recently just left a season of insane business and made the hard decision to change things up for a bit. Since January, I decided to take a step back from photography in order to pursue another passion of mine—travel. I boarded a plane to Rome, Italy, in January of this year, 2022, and have been studying abroad ever since. I traded in couple photos for landscape, building, and humanitarian photography. And the spark that I had briefly lost throughout my seasons of burnout, has come back. My eyes have been filled with art and beauty throughout this time, and I would not trade it for the world. And now, I have never ever been more excited to get to go back to the States in three weeks for the most incredible wedding season ever filled with the most incredible people and stories. God has been present through every trial and every good time through my photography journey, and I am so grateful for His kindness in providing throughout it all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
While photography is my biggest passion, I also love many other forms of media. Graphic design is my minor in school, so I grow in skill through classes I take every semester. This skill has quickly improved my photography business through branding, logos, graphics, and my website. I also love to journal and write. Traveling has united that passion back into my life through recording my everyday adventures in life-like, descriptive ways. Anything that has me capturing a story through powerful meanings, count me in. This means that I absolutely love love. And I absolutely love capturing love. I will forever have a soft spot for capturing couples in the most personal way for every single couple I have the pleasure of taking photos of.

I am known for the authenticity I create behind the camera in order to make these photos special. I combine my candid and realistic style with a warm golden glow edit that represents the way the exact moment felt. I promise every client that their photos will bring them back to the exact moments I captured in the most joyful and realistic way.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Clients are always shocked when they meet me because they always think I am going to be shorter than I am! I am 5’9, but I guess I look shorter on the internet!
