Meet Leah Potts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Potts.

Hi Leah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a young girl, I always wanted to influence those that struggled with understanding the importance of self-love and natural beauty.

This passion brought me to a business venture that has allowed me to continue that mission. I am Leah Potts the Lashologist and CEO of Classey Lashey.

Born and raised in St Louis, Missouri, where the city is full of ambitious and creative people. I quickly adapted to what that meant for me and began pursuing my career opportunities.

Early on, I took several courses in nursing. This allowed me to become a CNA and later on a CMT. The opportunity to care for patients and give their families a true sense of security was very rewarding. The little girl in me continued to remind me that I have other talents that I needed to cultivate.

I had a passion for “all things beauty and fashion,” which lead me to begin schooling as a Cosmetologist and graduate with my license in 20xx. During this time I also brought a beautiful little girl into the world. Juggling parenthood as a young single mother, while also striving to obtain my license presented many challenges.

The very thing that I wanted to influence as a young girl became my struggle. Self-love and knowing that I was naturally beautiful became a challenge, as I strived to provide and be an example for my daughter. I had a support system that not only assisted with child care during my long hours in cosmetology school.

They also gave me affirmations, which allowed me to understand how powerful I truly was. That same support system applied to my very first set of lashes. Before any makeup was applied, I was able to see how my natural beauty was enhanced in just a blink.

As I continued working in the nursing field and beauty industry I truly began to live out my passion for taking care of people and letting them know just how beautiful they are. It truly goes hand in hand when thinking in terms of being a service to others. I continued my nursing education while building a clientele at a salon where I rented a space.

I educated myself on different types of lash extensions, how to care for lashes, and having an understanding of my client’s needs.

As I cater to my client’s needs, I am able to live out my purpose. I offer my clients retail options, lash services, education, and a nap!!!!! But, most importantly I offer them affirmations, discussion about self-love, and a way to enhance their natural beauty!!!! I AM CLASSEY LASHEY.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve experienced my share of obstacles, struggles trial and error during my lash business journey but I didn’t let those situations define me or my business success. Covid definitely brought on obstacles and challenges with obtaining a steady consistent flow of income.

During Covid, there was a time when I was not allowed to provide services in the salon and once we were given permission not to occupy our space in a salon the steady flow of income became exhausted. There were days I would UBER or insta-cart taking citizens in the MO area their grocery order to be able to make ends meet and pay my booth rent.

Which had given me a very humbling outlook on life with the positive mindset of If You Don’t Believe It You Can’t Achieve It. If you don’t access your struggles as growing pains then a person may want to access their WHYS and their whole purpose of entrepreneurship.

Growing pains are the best pain when you look back and see how far you’ve come from challenges and obstacles. I’m a very transparent person and life is about constantly evolving. As of June of this year, I’ve opened my own lash studio in Overland, MO offering a host of lash services, training, and an ongoing experience with incentives for each client during their service.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a dedicated lasholgist . With patience, keen vision, steady hands, and a strong passion for enhancing natural beauty.

Services provided are Classic Lash Extension, Hybrid Lash Extensions, Volume Lash Extensions, and 13 styles of mink lash strips with mirrored compact cases to protect lashes from getting destroyed.

The fulfillment of my client’s experience is exhilarating and rewarding. I’m currently pursuing additional training for other services to add to my platform and I’m very excited.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
What I’ve learned is that there is a lesson in every lesson. Always prepare and develop an A, B, and C plan that would be simply wiser for any CEO of the business.

Late Rapper Nipsey Hussle once said “The game is gonna test you, never fold. Stay ten toes down, it’s not on you it’s in you and what’s in you they can never take away. We all should be able to take what we learned and have been through and grow through what we go through.

My number one quote and affirmation throughout the day is Don’t Give Up On Yourself. You are the prize and the process is necessary.
