Meet Shorooq Eid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shorooq Eid. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Shorooq Eid is a licensed cosmetologist and owner of @hairbyshrooq, which serves women of all ages and backgrounds in the St. Louis area. For the past eight years, Shorooq has worked in various salons offering a wide range of services. She started her career as a personal assistant to a salon owner in the Chicago area. From there, she developed her level of expertise by experimenting with new color and cutting techniques. She has worked with countless brides to make their vision of their big day come to life. Most importantly, her experience in training and empowering other stylists to be the best version of themselves has set her apart and contributed to her success as a stylist.

Shorooq grew up just west of St. Louis. While she was born and raised in the United States, she spent three years of her childhood living in Palestine, as well as visiting every other summer growing up. Carrying the Muslim faith and Palestinian culture has given her a passion for creating a safe and private space in her home salon studio for women.

Empowering women is one of Shorooq’s top priorities. She strives to not only make her clients look beautiful but feel beautiful and worthy of all life has to offer. In the near future, she hopes to open and run her own full-service salon and continue serving the women of the St. Louis area.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely been a struggle in some ways. Finding yourself along the way is very important, as well as continuing to grow within your career and being open to learning as you go, all while remaining humble.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist. I specialize in all things hair! coloring/cutting/styling, etc. I love getting to be behind the scenes of getting a bride ready for one of the biggest days of their life. I love being able to make a bride look beautiful but also feel beautiful as well. I am Palestinian-American, so I specialize in making women of all different backgrounds of hair types, colors, textures feel welcomed and happy with the end result.

Any big plans?
I would love to open a full-service salon of my own one day and help mentor other stylists that are trying to find their way in the industry.
