Meet The Public

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Public.

Hello The Public, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
We started in 7th grade for the school talent show. We all wore bowties and played dream on by Aerosmith. We went through a couple of lineup changes before settling on our current 3 piece situation.

In early high school, we started to record ourselves and by 2016 we put out our first album called Friendly Devil Music. We have put out several albums and EPs since then including one collaborative album we made with our friend Reggie Pearl.

We went on our 2nd tour this past summer 2022 going as far as Colorado Springs, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and Murfreesboro Tennessee (with a bunch of places in between). We are currently working on our 2nd concept album loosely based on Julius Ceasar as well as working on booking a southern tour this winter.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a really good road for sure not always smooth but always fun and exciting. When we played in Wichita this summer our passenger window got busted in in the middle of the day while we were exploring a park.

Luckily, they didn’t take anything worth much money. They did, however, take Jack’s books, poems, tour journals, and some other recreational goodies.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We pride ourselves on making music that is honest, fun, and exciting. All 3 of us sing about equally so our vocal performance alone is everchanging during our live shows.

In our recordings, we love adding tons of layers with as many instruments as we can manage. Eclectic rock and roll heavy on the roll.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Going with your gut and working with truly kind people seems to be working well for us.

We do all of our booking and scheduling and don’t see that changing unless a very close friend or family member wanted to dedicate their time to it. But things can always change.
