Meet Wynna Outland of MajesticJewel Hair Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wynna Outland.

Hi Wynna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a baby my mother always dressed my sister and I in the cutest clothing and made sure our hair was always done up everywhere we went. Whether it was braids or natural styles she always made it a priority to take good care of our hair and made sure we looked nice from head to toe. As I got older, I began to gain a strong passion for the beauty industry specifically hair styling. I always had a vision of going to cosmetology school, obtaining my license, and working hard to one day own a hair salon. After completing school and working in a full-service salon under someone else I realized that I wanted to work for myself as an independent stylist and build my brand from the ground up! Being fresh out of cosmetology school with little experience and no clientele, I knew that I would have to put my all into my dream and I was ready for the challenge. With starting from the ground up times got hard and I felt very discouraged. I decided to put my dream on hold so that I could make the necessary income to support myself and my son.

When COVID came around I had a lot of time on my hands to really think about what my passion was. I was confused about whether or not I wanted to go back to college or really put my all into a career in Cosmetology. My sister was the one that kept reminding me about my what an amazing gift I have in hair styling. She kept talking about how I should pursue this gift and make it into my official career. This boosted my confidence and allowed me to get more serious about my future in this industry. For the last and final time, I dedicated myself to launching my independent hairstyling business in a little under 2 months. With help from my family and those around me, I launched MajesticJewel Hair Company and Salon!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At first, it was very challenging for me because I had to build my clientele from the ground up. Attracting new clients to my business when there are so many other stylists that do the same thing took a lot of work. I utilized my social media platforms, flyers, and word of mouth to get my name out there. Trying to find the one thing that sets me apart from the rest took some time. I utilized my professional education from Cosmetology school to educate people about their hair to draw clients in to trust me. Also, being in a salon setting was very appealing to women looking for a professional environment to receive services. I realized that clients today enjoy a full salon service experience which is something that is missing with many stylists today. I made it my mission to be present and available to answer any and all questions, display a high level of professionalism, always be on time and ready to serve. They appreciate a stylist who takes the time to cater to them and all of their hair needs.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MajesticJewel Hair Company?
At MajesticJewel Hair Company I strive to provide every client with an elite salon experience while focusing on the overall health of your hair. I provide a variety of services that includes natural hair care, hair styling, braids, extensions, chemical services, and more! My mission is to help you establish a healthy hair regimen to aid in the growth and overall strength of your hair. While in school and also in a salon I noticed that many women only focus on “getting their hair done.” Under all of the extensions, I’ve seen damaged hair that is left untreated due to it being put up under whatever style they may have. I want women to remember that it is ok to experiment with different styles and have fun with extensions but at the end of it all you must remember to care for your natural hair. If you don’t find the correct hair products or seek a professional to guide you in the right direction to a healthy hair regimen you may experience poor hair health in the future. This is why I am striving to educate my clients so that they may feel confident with their natural hair.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My commitment to continue to learn and putting my clients first above everything.
