Rising Stars: Meet Armani Griffin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Armani Griffin.

Hi Armani, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
As a child, I always loved being in front of the camera, I also aspired to be a model. Although I wanted those things they weren’t realistic for me at the time. So instead of being in front of the camera, I decided to get behind, I realized that this was more fun and I could express my vision and creativity more this way.

Photography can be a very expensive hobby so when I couldn’t get a new camera I decided to give up, which now I don’t feel was a good idea but when I went off to college my uncle and aunt had a wedding and they randomly asked me to take their wedding photos it kind of scared me because honestly, I had no idea how I was gonna do that.

This sparked my creativity again my uncle gave me a camera I could use and I did their photos I did such a good that I started taking pictures for my friend who was a barber at school. This still wasn’t enough for me I wanted to do so much more with photography.

I came home for winter break and I started taking pictures of all my friends like Tina Kaniya and Jada we even texted more girls on Instagram like Yayi and Bryniah and I just said forget it I have a team let’s make a modeling group and we can do fun challenges and stuff they all thought it was a great idea so boom Brand You Modeling Group began and we started getting so much attention from social media I was surprised because remind you I had just begun so I was really winging all of this.

I started getting even more attention when I took a trip to Atlanta & I worked with a director Terrius Mykel so this started sparking even more creativity I felt like this was true for me. I worked with celebrities like Kalii, I met Future, Dess Dior, and Neyo and these are people who I follow on Instagram and listen to in the car.

I had so much fun I was in such bliss but then I found out that I was having my son Mason & I definitely thought photography was over for me but once I had him I started planning the Brand You season2 and Brand You Media photography is going amazing.

I have the best clients they are all so supportive and my modeling group is continuing to grow each and every day so I am so glad that my uncle and aunt asked me to take their photos.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been the smoothest road especially with having my son now.

I tried having a full-time job and doing photography and that may have been the hardest thing I’ve done I barely ever had time to do any shoots on top of having a newborn I was very stressed but I kept going and one day I decided okay I want photography to be my only job and I made it my full time.

This worked for me Brand You Modeling Group got many inquiries Brand You Media had me booked for the entire month of June so although I went through all that stress it was so worth it

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Photographer and Director. I run a modeling group in Saint Louis and we do creative challenges to express creativity while the girls are also building their portfolios for bigger agencies in the near future.

I also create direct videos for my friend SRT KAM we have a production company STAR BORN FILMS and we specialize in music videos and interactive photoshoots.

What sets me apart from others is I am very passionate about photography because I always wanted to be what my models are as a kid, I push very hard for them because I want them to go so far and do all the things I wanted to do.
