Rising Stars: Meet Nikki Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Jones.

Hi Nikki, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For years I was a dancer training professionally in St. Louis, Missouri and Los Angeles, California. While experiencing the lifestyle of a professional dancer, I began to realize that would not get me where I wanted to be in life, and in all honesty, it wasn’t my passion.

I knew I wanted to be in the public eye for something positive. Not drama-filled. No negativity. Just wanted to be someone people new as an overall good person. I began to think of ways I could build a name for myself and my brand. I call myself Your Average Girl because I want it to be known that no matter who you are, what your goals are, or how “average” of a person you are, you can accomplish anything you want in life.

I realized that most of the conversations I would see on snapchat, Facebook, and other platforms were mainly celebrity drama. Political drama. Anything toxic. That’s when I realized that maybe these negative conversations could become something positive. That is when I decided to start my podcast. My mission is to gain and give different perspectives on unpopular opinions and uncomfortable topics. This podcast is an outlet to talk about these things in a positive light. Just being able to get an understanding of different things we all experience in life.

I film all my podcasts with three separate cameras, two being mine, one being a friend’s who is letting me borrow it for now. I use three tripods for these cameras and get multiple different angles. I use my iPhone voice memos app to record the audio and I edit each episode on my own. I love the freedom I have to make this my own creation, but it is very difficult doing all the behind-the-scenes work as well as filming in front of the camera. I love that I’m finally doing what I’m passionate about and I’m so excited to eventually build a team and take this to the next level!

My episodes of Your Average Girl Talk is available on IGTV, Youtube, Spotify, and Apple podcasts! Anyone can also sign up for my monthly newsletter to stay up to date on what’s to come! Just go to the link in my bio on Instagram @nik.naak_

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles are nothing I can’t handle. I’m a super structured, organized person. The most stress I have is when I have ideas and I’m not quite sure how to implement or make them a reality. I still have so much I need to learn and outsource as far as managing, marketing, and developing a strong foundation within my brand!

I’ve learned not to let little things like audio troubles and out-of-focus cameras affect my mood for too long because I know no matter what struggles I face, I’m providing value and positivity to anyone who comes across my podcast.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As far as what I do and who I am on a daily basis, there’s a lot I’ve done. As of right now, I work as a group fitness instructor and a dance instructor in the St. Louis area as my “9-5,” if you want to call it that. Neither of these occupations feels like work, given my love for dance and fitness, so that’s a blessing in itself.

In my free time, I’m constantly working on marketing materials, brainstorming, and creating content for my platforms. I’m a workaholic. I get anxious when I feel like I haven’t been productive. Always having 1-3 different sources of incomes. I’ve always considered myself a jack of all trades, master of none. Which sounds bad, but I’ve learned so many different skills within my life. I’ve learned the skills of a lifeguard, dancer, personal trainer, day trader, educator, video editor and so much more. I honestly feel like that is exactly what sets me apart. I’m pretty good at a bunch of different things. I’m versatile.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love bringing people onto my podcast to give those different perspectives. I’d love to collaborate with other creators and individuals in my episodes! Even if they aren’t in my city, we could still make it happen. They can reach out to me via email at with a topic they want to cover or dm me on Instagram @nik.naak_

Businesses can work with me as well. I love working with smaller brands/businesses and any of them can reach out to me via email as well to discuss any collaborations or sponsorships!

My following can support easier than they’d think, honestly. Just commenting and giving their thoughts on these topics would be so impactful. As well as sharing the topics they connect with on their platforms to share these different perspectives. Lastly, for anyone who is feeling generous, they could leave a tip for me. Just head to the link in my bio on my IG @nik.naak_. This will help me in hiring individuals to finally build my team, rent studio space, purchase equipment, and put so much back into this podcast.
