Rising Stars: Meet Nylus Black

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nylus Black.

Hi Nylus, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I first started with gaining interest in art and storytelling. As a child, I was always mesmerized by the visuals and engaging stories of movies, animations, and video games. It inspired me to be a creator, an artist with so many ideas in his head that needed to be showcased on paper. I eventually went to school for art. There I developed more of my skills in illustrations, as well as creative writing.

Along the way, I developed a love for photography too as I was studying cinematography for my comic book illustrations classes, I also became great friends with other creators and gotten a mentor who helped guide me in the business marketing aspect of my field. With learning everything that I loved in regards of visual creativity I used all that I learned to help establish the path for my business and how I can use it to not only bring my many ideas and passions to life but to also help bring some positive energy to those who love visual arts as well. Especially for the people who are always tough on themselves that needed a boost in confidence, so seeing how beautiful a visual piece either an illustration or stunning photograph of themselves can remind them of how beautiful and worthy they are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were a lot of rough spots on my path. For example having doubts in myself and my abilities, not being sure if I could make my dreams happen. Not letting anybody down. And the overwhelming feeling of getting so much done with what feels like so little time. Plus there were so many trials and errors down that I had to learn from to keep myself on my path. All of it eventually leads to a burn out or an artist block, but I still keep myself busy by doing research or having talks with close friends that would reignite my fire.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Graphics Illustrator and Photographer. I create work that gives a visual reflection of beauty and worthiness for individuals from many different backgrounds. I’m very proud that my work brings in a sense of importance to the many subjects that they’re based on. Because most people carry self-doubt within themselves feeling that they may not have any importance or beauty to them, but when they see one of my pieces that’s based on them, a full on reflection of their beauty and worthiness projected onto a canvas, a piece of paper, a digital screen or a framed photo, then they can truly see that they have so much quality of life to themselves. Being able to make so many people happy about themselves with my creative visuals is really awesome.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was going fishing with my parents. My dad mostly loved fishing and would bring me and my mom along. As a child it was something we did every year but as I got older and attended school for my career I never got to go fishing with him again up until he passed away. But the memories always stuck with me especially as it was a time where we all were happy and enjoying life.
