Rising Stars: Meet Oversaturated The Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oversaturated The Podcast. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The Podcast is a weekly podcast where two friends, Johnnie and Ralph, discuss Music, Movies, Pop Culture and Everything In Between. They are both originally from East Saint Louis, IL. These lifelong friends decided to take their often thought-provoking conversations/debates to a larger platform. The name Oversaturated: The Podcast is a double entendre for them. Oversaturated because of the current podcast market, and Oversaturated because of the array of topics they cover.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. We’ve had to deal with learning how to accept all criticisms, especially constructive. Also, dealing with rejections and not receiving the full support of family or friends. Sometimes business dealings didn’t work out. The struggle from the beginning of having a proper setup and how it all works together. Neither one of us had a background in audio/visual techniques before the start of this podcast. Now we’d like to think we’re somewhere between intermediate and expert on this.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re just regular guys with a passion for music, movies, and pop culture. This comes from our 20 plus year friendship. We learned we have an ability to look at situations from more than one perspective when talking about these topics. This allows us to dig deeper and have meaningful conversations no matter the topic. We’re most proud of our growth as podcasters. This has come from our consistency and ability to adapt to the ever-changing media landscape. What sets us apart would be our personalities. We’re firm believers in personality playing a part in how our listeners consume our content.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Networking is key to expansion when it comes to podcasting. Podcasting has allowed us to meet individuals on social media, as well as in-person that share the same passion for podcasting that we do. It is important to collaborate with others and bounce ideas off each other for growth. Networking provided us the opportunity to secure sponsorships for our first live show, in 2019, from out-of-town businesses.
