Rising Stars: Meet Trifton Rose of RoseAboveIt Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trifton Rose. Them and their team share their story with us below:

RoseAboveIt Podcast was created to provide a space to have dialogue on issues (social, financial, relationship, political, life, etc) that aren’t always the easiest to have. We debate all topics with the utmost respect and do not aim to disrespect or offend any person or group of people. The hosts of this podcast are, T.Rose, Malcolm, Honeyy; and the voices you may hear behind the camera are Damm Denz and PJ. RoseAboveIt Podcast was created by host, Trifton Rose. The platform was created initially to show his on-air and interview skills in the media industry. “Every job/internship wants you to have experience in media, but nobody wants to give you an opportunity to have experience. I created my own avenue of experience and that drive and mentality lead to the evolution of RoseAboveIt Podcast.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a podcast is FAR from a smooth road! Between learning what equipment you need, the technical issues, and figuring out a consistent schedule that works for everybody; There are times when podcasting can seem impossible to do consistently. Believing in yourself and pushing through all the obstacles are what separate the fly by night podcasts and the “Million Dollar Worth of Game” podcasts. Our first two years of starting RoseAboveIt Podcast were some of our most difficult. We were questioning the content or which direction we were going in because support seemed far and few. We realized the more consistent we were, the more downloads, subscribers, and followers we were getting. After figuring out what worked for us as a unit (which took some time), we became a well oiled machine that is striving to become one of the best.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally I am an audience/booking producer at NBCUniversal. I got my first real job in television at the Maury Show, where I’ve worked at for six years. I book the audience and the on stage guests who want to be on the show. One thing this job has shown me is that I’m great with people. I love to have an interesting conversation with new people. Meeting new people and learning from them gives one a different perspective on topics you may feel strongly on. This made me really good at booking guests and audiences for the show. Working on a set of production made me realize I do NOT want to just be behind the camera but in front of it. What is nice about working in a production like Maury it gives you the opportunity to be creative and come up with cool ideas with other producers. Whether it’s an idea for an episode or for Maury’s social media pages, the door is always open to be creative there. I’m mostly proud of how much I have learned about producing. Whether it’s coming up with content, writing the scripts, or talking a guest through a show, I know I have all the tools to make great content. I believe my ambition sets me apart from everybody else. I’m somebody who isn’t afraid to fail and not afraid to pursue new opportunities.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The most important quality to my success is my passion. Doing anything without passion is a job. When you’re doing something you believe in and you are passionate about you figure out a way to make it work and to separate yourself. The podcast industry is one of the most saturated industries today. Without the passion of myself and my team Denzel, PJ, Malcolm and, Honeyy we would just be wasting our time.
