Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Norfleet, Md, Dabom, Facp, Mba
Tracy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in Sunset, Louisiana, I was an active student, involved in sports and music. Despite my small-town roots, I dreamed big and attended Xavier University, initially pursuing Pharmacy. A chance conversation led me to a life-changing decision. I changed my mind about Pharmacy and decided “I am going to become a doctor”.
After graduating from Xavier with a Bachelor of Science, I went on to LSU Medical School and LSU Health Sciences Center for my internship and residency. Hurricane Katrina brought a twist to my journey, as I moved to St. Louis with my husband to be closer to family.
I’ve been happily practicing Internal Medicine here for over 20 years, cherishing the opportunity to connect with patients, educate them about their health, and advocate for the equitable treatment of obesity and weight bias awareness in healthcare. Today, I’m passionate about using my voice to address health inequities through speaking and coaching. When I am not busy working, you can find me grooving to the beat, vibing to my favorite tunes at concerts, or jet-setting to new destinations.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has certainly not been smooth. During my senior year of college, I became pregnant with my daughter, which was both a blessing and a challenge as I navigated my studies while raising a child. Despite the added responsibility, I managed to maintain a strong academic performance.
In July 2005, tragedy struck as I unexpectedly lost my mother, followed by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina just a month later. This led me to uproot my life, moving from Louisiana to St. Louis to be closer to family. The adjustment was challenging, especially with the added responsibilities of guardianship for my brother and caring for my young daughter.
Today, with the unwavering support of my husband, I am grateful to say that I have not only survived these obstacles but am now thriving in both my career and personal life.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I’m available for speaking engagements and accepting clients for personal health coaching, sharing my expertise and empowering others to advocate for themselves within the healthcare system.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, I’ve learned several valuable lessons as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. First, I discovered the potential of virtual medicine. Prior to the pandemic, regulations and restrictions limited its use, but now I’ve incorporated it into my practice, providing greater accessibility and convenience for my patients.
Additionally, the pandemic has highlighted the importance of cherishing life and making the most of each day. Life is fragile, and COVID-19 has reminded us that tomorrow is never guaranteed. This has encouraged me to embrace self-care, prioritize my well-being, and enjoy life to the fullest.
