Local Highlighter Series

We are so thrilled to be able to connect with some of the brightest and most inspiring entrepreneurs and creatives from across the city and beyond and this series in particular gives us the honor of introducing these folks to you in a unique way – we go beyond the story of how they got to where they are today by asking them to reflect on a variety of deeper questions that we hope will help you better connect with them, their stories and their brands. Ultimately, our hope is that more of us will spend more of our money with independent artists, creatives and small businesses and we think getting to know one another at a deeper level is step one.

I LOVE what I do. I am excited to go to the office every single day. I love seeing each and every member- helping them with whatever they’ve got going on that day. I have created real relationships with each person. I know their kids, their parents, the names of their pets, what they like to do on Saturday nights. Read more>>

There was a time when I almost gave up on becoming a therapist. While I was in school and working toward this career, it felt overwhelming at times. It was a lot of hard work and long hours and I put massive amounts of pressure on myself. Read more>>

Early in my career, I worked in financial institutions in support roles while watching people with far more authority rely on me to keep systems running. I was often the lowest titled person in the room, yet I was the one who understood the technology, the processes, and how to fix what was broken. That experience taught me two things very early. Admittedly, very recently! I’ve spent a lot of energy trying to hide the broken pieces of myself, and it wasn’t until I got with my current band that I found power in all of that pain. We’re a little 4-piece group called Creysi, and I’m so incredibly grateful for them. Read more>>

Lately, we feel like we’re being called to be seen, not just for what we create, but for who we actually are behind the scenes. For a long time, we were comfortable sharing the polished version—the finished photos, the highlight reel, the parts that felt safe. But the behind-the-scenes YouTube channel? That’s different. That requires vulnerability. Read more>>

I would tell her to not worry about doing all the things that society defines as being successful. Like I tell my kids, spend your life doing what you love for work. We work most of our lives so it is important to do work that gives your life meaning and is fulfilling, not necessarily the thing that pays the most money. Read more>>

I think a lot of people are secretly struggling with the same question: “What do I want to be when I grow up?” And not in a cute, exploratory way. In a heavy, private way. The kind where you assume everyone else knows their thing… and you’re the only one still stuck. I’m in that place myself. Read more>>

As a child I had the strong belief that I will be a famous pop star. I no longer believe this because I have grown to learn at least a little what God’s will for my life is and a famous pop star isn’t it. I don’t even desire it anymore. Read more>>

It truly is a deep and taboo question to have to answer in front of the world but, this is a question that has been heavily on my mind recently, and to do your own self inventory is growth, and to GROW is to Get Rid Of old Ways. Read more>>

A moment that really shaped how I see the world is when I was around 15 years old & my step mom divorced my dad after 10 years of being manipulated & taken advantage of. Read more>>

A moment that fundamentally shaped how I see the world happened early in my career, when I found myself working across borders, languages, and cultures for the first time. I was coordinating between leaders who were equally intelligent, equally capable, and deeply committed, yet often misunderstanding one another simply because they came from different cultural frameworks.
