Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Scronce
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When people ask me how I got started in real estate and how I arrived at where I am today, my journey is deeply personal. I first got into real estate while on maternity leave and recovering from heart surgery. At the time, I placed my license with an incredible company, where I spent many years learning from my mentors, Diane Baker and Judi Arnold, who played a big part in shaping me into the realtor I’ve become.
For a long time, I managed real estate part-time while working full-time in various other jobs. However, after the company where I was an executive assistant was sold, I faced a pivotal decision: I could either stay at home or build my real estate business into the vision I had always held—one rooted in integrity, family values, and a genuine desire to help others.
It was thanks to my biggest supporter, a wonderful friend, and the mother of my goddaughter, that I found the courage to take that leap of faith. With the encouragement and guidance of April Brower, I decided to go full-time in real estate. Wanting to maintain the personal touch and integrity that I believe is essential, I chose to place my license with Fox and Riley Real Estate, a company that aligned with my values.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When asked if my journey has been a smooth road, I can honestly say it hasn’t been easy, though I know others have faced even bumpier paths. One of the hardest moments in my life was losing my biggest supporter, my dad, to suicide. The anger, confusion, and deep depression that followed consumed me for years. It was a difficult time that left me feeling lost.
On top of that, my family dynamic has never been traditional. I’ve had a strained and unhealthy relationship with my mother, as well as with my siblings. These personal struggles weighed heavily on me, and I found myself at a breaking point.
I knew the woman, the mother, and the entrepreneur I was meant to be were still inside me, but I needed to make a change to find her. That’s when I sought out the best therapy I could find, with Dr. Shiloh Werkmeister. Through that journey, I learned to love myself and came to terms with breaking generational curses. It was through this healing process that I was able to rise above the challenges and become who I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When people ask me about my work, I always tell them I’m a Realtor who specializes in residential real estate. Whether you’re buying or selling, my primary goal is to educate and guide you through the entire process. I like to think I’m known for my big heart. I didn’t enter real estate solely for financial reasons; at my core, I’m a servant-hearted person who genuinely enjoys helping others navigate one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
When it comes to what I’m most proud of, I would highlight my accomplishments in the real estate industry. From being named Rookie of the Year in my first year to earning the Rising Star award in my office in 2023, to my participation in the 2024 Leadership Academy for the St. Charles Board of Realtors, I’ve worked hard to continuously grow. I’m also committed to staying at the top of my field through education, holding several designations such as ABR, RENE, C2EX, and AHWD. I’m now working toward my broker’s license, and I make it a priority to stay current with courses like the Code of Ethics, Fairhaven Fair Housing, Renovation Loans, and Commercial Basics.
What truly sets me apart from others is my heart—not just for my clients but for my fellow Realtors as well. I believe there’s enough success for everyone, and I want to see everyone win in this industry.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
When people ask for advice about starting out in real estate, my first piece of advice is not to be nervous if you don’t know everything right away. Even with nearly 10 years of experience under my belt, I’m still continuously learning. One thing I highly recommend is finding yourself a mentor—someone you look up to in the industry, even if they aren’t in your brokerage. You’d be surprised at how many Realtors out there genuinely want to see you succeed and are willing to share their knowledge. After all, we all have the same end goal: happy clients on both sides of the transaction.
It’s also important to remember that honesty is key. This is your business, and you should run it according to how you envision its success. We all share the same code of ethics, so follow that, but don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek answers. Be confident in your value and the unique perspective you bring to the table.
Looking back, while I’ve learned a lot over the years, I can honestly say I’ve been blessed with amazing mentors who guided me every step of the way. The only thing I wish I knew when I started was to have more confidence in myself from the beginning.
