Meet Angela Jurgensen of Wildwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Jurgensen

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am from Brazil, and when my family moved to the United States in 1995, it was quite an experience. The first five years were filled with challenges as we adjusted to a new culture and environment, all while balancing the demands of raising three boys. This journey allowed me to dedicate time to various activities, from arts and crafts to family adventures, freelance jobs, and volunteering at school. Through my school volunteer work, I transitioned into a career in the educational field, and that’s when I discovered my deep passion for yoga—a journey that began at a pivotal time in my life. Through my efforts, I was granted the opportunity to become certified in Adult and, sequentially, Kids Yoga. Yoga became a source of strength and stability, enriching my personal and professional growth. It has helped me navigate the complexities of life and embrace every moment with my family.
I began teaching yoga in 2016, starting at Parkway Rockwood Community Center and Lifetime Fitness as a children’s yoga instructor. In 2018, I pivoted my focus to practicing and teaching yoga within the Rockwood school district, teaching staff, leading mindfulness workshops, and supporting the community. I still teach children’s yoga at Lifetime Fitness. I am grateful for these opportunities that have shaped me, and given me the courage to decide to start my own business in May 2024 to bring the best of me to the community,
Yoga helps me feel my best and honor my needs to flow with life compassionately passing on to my students.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The teaching has been easy, and it is flowing smoothly, but I am still learning to navigate the administrative process of my business, learning a lot about the platform that launches my classes.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I teach yoga, I bring my unique style of yoga to the community. My goal is to offer classes that not only focus on physical well-being but also promote mindfulness and emotional resilience. In my classes, there is a connection, where people can come together but focus on their bodies, minds, and hearts. I am proud of my commitment to making every student feel good about who they are, and my philosophy is yoga is not one size fits all, everyone is welcome to my classes.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice is never to stop being a student, we all learn from each other, and practicing self-growth, self-compassion, self-care, and willingness to be humble are the keys to finding strength and peace in nurturing this community, I believe we can all grow together, transforming not just our lives but the lives of those around us. That’s what has been working for me.
