Meet Victoria Faith of Greater St. Louis Region

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Faith

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Black Girls Need Sun was birthed out of my own, very real battle with depression. What saved my life and (quite literally) brought me out of the dark place I was in, was getting more sunlight and re-connecting with nature.

With that in mind, I decided to establish an organization that would inspire, embolden, and share space with other Black girls who are healing the innermost parts of themselves as well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Right now, the organization consists solely of myself. The most challenging part of this process has been gaining awareness and recruiting a board.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Certified Full-Spectrum Doula and Personal Care Assistant, in addition to being a mother, so I spend most of my time taking care of other people. My role as Founder of Black Girls Need Sun is no different, with the main focus being to create an environment that nourishes and nurtures all Black girls.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Perseverance. Despite any obstacles or opposition, I continue to walk the path I know that I was chosen for.
