Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Reeves
Hi Ryan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started as a part time cleaner in 2016. During that time, I slowly worked my way into a full time position, and then into a supervisor position. The supervising position included 4 car dealerships along Manchester road in Ballwin and some office buildings in Des Peres. Once the pandemic started at the end of 2019/early 2020, business for the cleaning company I worked for started slowing up big time.
Since I wasn’t getting the hours I was used to, I started cleaning homes and dog walking/dog sitting part time for friends and family. I could tell that I was really enjoying the learning process while caring for animals.
I used this opportunity to switch careers. I started working for a doggy daycare/boarding facility. Here, I learned a lot about myself and the animals I was caring for. I fell in love with the dogs and my coworkers. This was an extremely rewarding job physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I decided to start working for another pet care facility closer to home, but was still not satisfied. After a handful of years within the pet care industry, I was hungry for something more financially stable.
I then made the switch back to full time in the cleaning industry. I started with a new company cleaning a daycare/preschool in Chesterfield. In addition, I added 2 more daycares and preschools to my schedule.
Before I knew it, I was promoted to account manager. Within my time working as account manager, I lead a team of 20-30 employees at a single time and managed 17 accounts (daycares, churches, colleges, banks, etc) all across St. Louis and Illinois. I supervised countless floor projects including scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning. Experience was also gained with electrostatic disinfectant spraying.
After getting my hands dirty and starting from the bottom (both literally & figuratively), I learned the ins and outs of the cleaning industry. I knew it was time to follow through with my dreams of owning my own company. This is how Bright Aura LLC was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Not quite. And I wouldn’t want it any other way. The ups and downs of life and starting a small business have been a key to my success in many ways. I learn something new each day about myself and the cleaning services we happily provide. From attaining my LLC, gaining clients and showcasing my work, to correcting errors when made (which will happen), the whole learning process has been eye opening and exhilarating.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. I love this city, along with all of the wonderful people here that make it a place to call home. The support for our local small businesses is what helps our community thrive. The helping hands of our neighbors and the fellowship with one another is what makes this city one of a kind.
